QuoteReplyTopic: Hair disaster HELP!!!!!!!! Posted: May 18 2008 at 1:22pm
This may be kind of long, but please bear with me because I need help. First of all my natural hair color is dark brown with gold and red highlights. Last Sept. my niece gave me very heavy blonde highlights. I absolutely loved it, but didn't like what the bleach did to my hair.
After months of deep conditioning and cholesterol treatments my hair was back to normal. I found a hair dresser who said she could make me an all over blonde with coloring not bleach so I went for it in March. We picked out a color and she applied it to the roots first and at the end she pulled it through the rest. When she rinsed it out my roots were orange and the rest looked the same as when I walked in. then she used a toner and it took out a little of the orange, but not all. Next she did pull through cap lowlights to try and blend it together. When she rinsed that off I had blueish gray highlights. She said the only thing she knew to do was do an all over brown to cover everything up. When she did that my roots were still orangey and the rest of it was a very ashy brown. She told me to come back in a week and she would fix it. Needless to say I never went back to here I was mortified with the way my hair looked.
Last month my niece and I went to Sally's and picked out a brown to do. She put it on and for the first few days I loved. Finally my hair was all one color. Now it has faded and is not an attractive color. Now it is sort of a light to medium brown with alot of red in it and it kind of has a green cast.
I just want it back to as close to my natural color as possible. I have looked at hair coloring and I am really confused. I don't know if I need a warm, cool, or neutral color. Should I do a shade or two lighter than what I want? Please someone help!!!
By the way if it helps here are pictures. The first one is me with the blonde hair and the second is me with my natural color. And I am not as white as pale as the photos make me look the flash does that.
I hate to tell u this but it seems u r gonna have to get a dark color. In order to cover up the mess up.I'd get a choclate color.Sally's is good.i wouldn't go back to a salon.Don't worry if it turns out really dark.It will fade if u wash it alot. There r color removers, but I'm not so sure if u wanna try that.I say that because I used colorfix & it did ligten my hair, but it went back darker on the ends.U have to be very careful with color removers. To bad I can't do your hair for u.I'd for sure get someone to help color it.Whatever u do, don't get Feria by Loreal.it has Metallics in it.Which r not good. They can break your hair off if u try to color over it.I wouldn't do blonde. To me, blonde isn't your color.I like darker. If u want your hair to brighen up after u color it.By Shimmer Lights At Sally's. Make sure it's for Brunette hair. The bottle is purple with brown on it.Don't get the one with the blue label. That's for blondes.Good luck!
Thank you for your reply. I don't want to go back blonde I think the reason I liked it so much is because it was a change. I really loved my natural color I thought it was a very pretty brown.
The color I have been looking at is Loreal Excellence Dark Golden Brown. With all the warms. cools, and nuetrals I am just stumped about what to use.

I'd try the Dark Golden Brown. After that I wouldn't do anything else.U need to also get u a Protien Filler. That way it will help the porous ends. The ends tend to shoke in the color the most. That's why u need a protien filler.Put the filler on the ends. So, they don't get to dark.U want even color.U can get the filler at Sally's.

Yeah, your hair is very porous now. It will absorp any colour darker and ashier. You should go over your hair with a light brown neutral or golden. That way your hair cannot take on any green/blue tones. Also, use a demi-permanent or semi (like Natural Instincts) because every time you use a permanent, it's more damage to your hair. Get your hands on a protein treatment as well like Aphogee or Nexxus Emergencee to put that protein back in your hair. It will help your hair retain colour better. For awhile, you will have to redo your brown colour often (pigment packing) before it can stick to your hair. Once your hair is in better condition, you will notice the colour will last longer!
