Hi, everyone! I have been lurking and taking advice from all of the blonde do it yourselfers for a while now. I finally have a bit of a delema!
I just went from RED to BLONDE, a fairly simple process.. However, now I have alot of gold left which I soon will be bleaching out strand by strandConfused
My question is... should I tone the blonde pieces that I highlight with violet or an NB  beige toner?? I have a yellowish gold tone now and want to be a paler light blonde = Jessica simpson - ish. The last time I used violet my hair turned almost a pinkish tinge. Does anyone recommend a good EASY on the hair toner for toning down gold and yellow after highlighting?? THANKS SO MUCH!!

Hey Loren! I have to say, I'm pretty big on toning shampoos and conditioners. That's what I use to tone my blonde/platinum hair because it's not damaging at all and you can do it as much as you want. Love ShimmerLights, Redken Glam Pearl and AG Toning Conditioner, but there are lots of other good ones.

If you want to go with a more permanent one, the Clairol Born Blonde (I think it's called) are supposed to be very good. It really depends on the health of your hair once you're done highlighting. If it doesn't feel too bad and slimy, go ahead with the violet. If it feels not so healthy and breaking a bit, then you may want to dilute the violet with shampoo or water OR use a more neutral toner so it doesn't absorb too ashy on your hair. A good tip is to spray your hair with a leave-in (like Infusium 23) after you've highlighted so it can't absorb too much of the toner and go off-toned.
Love clip-ins and tape!

Hi, thanks for your response! I have used the Glam Pearl Treatment and the Artec Violet - really helped a bunch. I was just wondering if I  should hilight and not tone it at all - I mean just go with the violet shampoo? Thanks for your help!

You are most welcome! I say go for it --- love Artec too! You don't HAVE to permanent tone because the beauty of light blonde is that a coloured conditioner or semi, like Manic Panic Virgin Snow will last if you apply it right. Also, I don't like more permanent toners because what if you HATE the tone? then you have to try to wash it out or live with it while it fades. Ugggh!!!

Love clip-ins and tape!
