QuoteReplyTopic: HELP! - how to tone down brassy color Posted: June 12 2008 at 5:56pm
My colorist recently moved, so I tried to duplicate the process at home. I normally have a more ash tone to my blond color, and whatever happened this time, it looks very brassy/reddish, and very unnatural. I have tried to get into a salon today to get it fixed, but everyone is booked, so is there anything I can do to tone this down and put more ash color into my hair? Should I try and re-color with a different product?
Many thanks everyone!!

You can use an ash toner, this will remove any brassy/red tones from your blonde. Sally's sell ash toners.
Good luck, Karen.
Ps, if you find your blonde needed a bit of a boost to you can use a hi lift colour that has an ash tone, wella 12/1 is a good one, but I would only use a 30 vol, 9% developer with it.

I hope this will work for me too. My hair is orange, and it's normally light ash blonde to white. It's awful!!

Hi Jill,
A hi lift with an ash tone will do the trick. I use wella , the 12/1 or 12/16 are lovely colours, just remember to mix with 12% (40 vol) of developer, at a ratio of 1 part colour 2 parts developer.
Karen.
