I just colored my hair which is med. mousey brown with some gray with Clairol Nice and Esay Med. Ash Brown adn now I look like a goth wannabe---I called Clairol and they said I couldn't so anything for 4-6 weeks. I looked on line and found Prell and Baking Soda as possibilities--anyone try either--something else? I can't afford to go to a professional. Am I just stuck? I am afraid that if I do too much I'll just turn my hair red.

U could try colorfix, but that can make it turn dark again if u color with a dark color afterwards.I'd try color fix & then buy a light ass color, so that way it won't turn dark.I had to do that.I worked.I wish u had pics.
The same thing happened to me yesterday. That's how I found this forum... trying to fix my way too dark color.
I used Nice n Easy Light Ash Brown and instead I got dark brown hair with coppery-red. Clairol is refunding me my money for the two boxes I used and told me to go to a salon to "have them fix it". I told her "Gee, if I could of afforded salon color, don'tcha think I would of done that?"
I have been coloring my hair at home for years using L'oreal and never had this problem.
I'm going to try several of the lightening suggestions... I pray they work.
I found this forum that suggested 3 parst lemon juice (I used fresh but some people used RealLemon) and 1 part conditioner leave it on a long time--then dry it and then rinse with more plain lemon juice--some pople shampooed and conditioned again--I just rinsed--I had to do this 2 x but it took the color out better than Prell or clarifying shampoo--but it took me back to a coppery color (which s probably what the N&E did when it lifted some of my original color). I then waited 24 hours and used UNRED in conditioner and left that on for about 2 hours then washed out. I put it on dry hair. Then the next day used 10 drops UNRED with my shampoo and the color is almost normal. A lot of work but it looks so much better than it did before. Good luck--website is www.tipking.co.uk Try this before you spend a lot of money. I also got my hair cut shrther tahn usual with lots of layers--and that helped too.

wash it with cheap shampoo, it should help fade the dye really quickly. i also used a medium ash brown a few weeks ago on top of pre lighterned hair, and it is now a light brown with undertones of auburn, i think most box dyes absorb lots of the dye then tend to fade very fast. if worse comes to worse, you could always pre lightern and then get a very light ash brown to cancel out the orange. good luck!
