QuoteReplyTopic: Blonde base color without the ORANGE! Posted: June 28 2008 at 1:27am
So, I have FINALLY gotten the hideous gold out of my hair and now I am ready to tackle the root dilema. I think I am going to shoot for base color with highlights. I just need some direction on the base color. I am about a level 6/7 natural and tend to pull up orangish- gold. I tried a test area of Goldwell 11P and 40v. for 45 min. and still ended up goldish. Does anyone have a recommendation as to a good color line, high lift line, or techniques to get a good creamy light blonde base without gold? I am naturally not that dark so I thought this would be easier. Can I use the 11P highlift and add the goldwell blonding cream to it?? Should I do the 11A and add blonding cream? I also was curious about using the Redken Double Fusion Blondes. Of course the Redken rep. that came into my salon said it would work - but I'm not so sure..LOL. I would use bleach and tone, but I do want it to have some tones to it. Not just flat blonde? I am stuck here! Fakeisme? You are so good with the blonde dilemas... Thanks!! loren

Ahhh....I heard your call...and here I am!!! I 'pretend' like I know what I'm talking about!
Borne blonde's advice/formula sounds really good. She obviously knows Goldwell very well. I like the idea of the blonding creme with the highlift --- this should work to knock out the gold tones. You also could consider adding a blue additive. Goldwell should have one or even violet. the extra pigment would fight the gold.
Redken's Fusion Blondes I've heard ARE very good, but I've never used them. A strand test would help you decide if they would work to bring you up without gold. they're AG (ash green) series would probably be the best choice. Also, I'm not sure the Double Fusion can be used on scalp; might burn.
Of course, you know I am going to suggest cream bleach instead of all that! It's just easier and more predictable plus it is waaaaay more gentle on your hair than what you are planning to use. Fourty volume peroxide is harsh on the hair -- very damaging; more so than using 20 vol. and bleach. I understand not wanting a flat blonde. Maybe if you did highlights with bleach (to the scalp) and then in between did highlift you could get the sparkly blonde without the brass?
Oh gawd, I know I'm not helping, but I'm kind of thinking as I go along! I say, go for the strand test and see what you get with the Goldwell and the Double Blondes first. If you don't like the result, you can go with bleach and then tone to your desired colour. HTH and good luck!
Yay, thanks for the info. I am really stuck here. So, if I go for bleach and tone you are saying I can highlight over the bleach in between, to create some tones? Sort of like a base color w/ highlights?
