QuoteReplyTopic: Micros Superglued to real hair! Posted: June 29 2008 at 12:15am
My sister-in-law (who is only 15) had micros done about a month ago. She is extremely uneducated about how to care for hair in any way. Let me tell you, those braids look like they've been in for about 2 years straight, not a month. Anyway, she want's them taken out since they look so bad, but the person who did them used superglue to hold them in. The glue is at the root instead of the end of the braid! So basically her real hair is superglued to the fake hair. I have no clue what to do. HELP!!! PLEASE!!!

oh my goodness, i'm so sorry this happened. bumping for you. maybe you should call the hairdresser and ask her. or have the hairdresser take them down being that she glued them in there. make sure to take pictures because this may be a possible law suit.

That was exactly what I planned to do, but when I asked her and her mom where they got them done at, they just said it was at the woman's house. She doesn't have a shop and they could not remember the address or phone number. I even drove them around to see if they could find it, but they didn't remember. I'm just so furious.
I asked a couple of hair dressers and they suggested soaking the glue in acetone and gently using needle nose pliers to try and crack the glue. We alternated with the acetone and pliers for hours and made no progress. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to cut her hair to get them out. She is so upset. She's in high school and is afraid to go back with only an inch or less of hair.

Thats horrible. She may just have to cut the hair off, unfortunately.
Glue should never go anywhere near the hair ---especially superglue, since it was not made for that purpose!! I cant believe a stylist did such a horrible thing. She took advantage of your sis-in-law. I think you guys shoudl sue.
Micros should be knotted to secure them, no glue is necessary.
OMG!! DAT'S REALLY TERRIBLE... I MEAN WHO DA FLIP WOULD USE SUPERGLUE 2 KEEP BRAIDS IN??? MAN U needta find whoever did it n settle it in a timely manner.. like in da COURT!! but ayy i juz had micros... took em out dis past june 28th...had 2 kut my hair where da braids stoppd at... SMH

You've gotta be kidding!!! With superglue...her hair is through.. She has to get them cut out. She's young, it will grow back (hopefully with it will grow in giving her more wisdom).

well here's the update. she had to have her hair cut so it's only about a half inch long all over now. She is completely devastated!!! I wanted to cry for her. She looks good with the short cut but she pretty much won't come out of her room now! Poor baby!

Sorry to hear that she is upset. But tell her she is at the perfect stage with her hair now. Its virgin hair now, and she has many options of hair styles to look forward to. For example, twisties, locks, afro (which will never go out of style) and as long as she keeps it in good condition, she will be fine. She can add tracks if she wants when she gets a few more inches. Tell her that many people would just love to start over with their hair like she did, but are afraid to cut their hair. They might not tell you this but alot of people want to get rid of there current perms. Good luck to baby girl!!
