Still looking at a million different colors, trying to figure out what's the best option....
Right now, I really like the look of these three colors from the Bohyme Ashy line: #D14/22, #D22/27, #D27M/22.
Whatever color I go with, I'll probably order the 22-inch length.
First question: What do you think of these three colors? Which would probably be the most flattering for someone with light skin, green-gray eyes, and neutral skin tone (I don't think I'm really a "warm" or a "cool," or I can't figure it out anyway).
Second question: Are these Bohyme colors totally blended, or highlights, or streaks? I don't want the piano colors, so the more blended, the better, I think.
Third question: I've narrowed my personal color gallery to the following. Do those Bohyme colors correspond with any of the following colors, or am I off?
I'm probably making this more complex than it needs to be, but again, I'm totally clueless when it comes to any color other than white.
I'll bring home my ashy bohyme color ring tonight and let you know what I think of those colors that you specified.
PS-
I just got off the phone with Alan from Super Hair Factory and he said that the ashy bohyme colors are only available in the hand tied and that hand tied mixes tend to be more of a chunky, side by side mix.
Jenny, I would make a quick search on Bohyme ashy blonde on this forum, there was a topic on this a few weeks ago where Sherrie posted some good info, I am sure it would help you make a decision.
Metalgirl, THANK YOU!! You have resolved my problem!!
I posted on a thread by Poose that I got a Bohyme handtied weft 14/22 that didn't look blended at all, more like one inch of 14, one inch of 22 etc.
so the result wasn't as natural as I wished, the streaks were way too thick, so to speak.
I get it now = machine wefts give a more blended effect with small highlights/lowlights (the pictures on Poose thread) and handtied wefts give a more chunky piano color juxtaposition!
All those mixed colors that you mention are not on the ashy ring, they are on the standard ring. I wonder why they include them on listed under ashy on their website?
I didn't have the D14/22 on the ashy ring, but it is on the standard bohyme ring. So is it not ashy? I have ordered the 14/22 before off of the standard ring and it's nice, but it's not ashy.
Here's the mixed on the ashy ring. These mixes are truely on the ashy side, but I think they are all side by side colors:
15/21p
15/21
15/17
d14a/63
d8b/21p
d8a\24a
d7/21p
When I want a more mixed highlighted look, I'll buy two wefts and layer them. For example if I want to mix 2 with the highlight of 14, when I sew the weft together on the sewing machine, I layer the 2 on top of the 14 and it intermixes that way with the 2 the predominant color and the 14 the less noticable color.
So, if you were my client and you told me you wanted to transition away from solid platinum, I'd mix two weft in the manner that I mentioned above for a more blended look. I'd use the 613 or the 613A as the predominant color and than layer a dark ashy blond under it. That way it's not too dark, yet it's not totally platinum either. So, looking at my color ring and also the pictures you presented this is what I'd recommend:
