Hi, your feedback would be appreciated! I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I've done my hair color for many years now. Before I went darker, my hair was a mix of dark blond and light brown with bleaching job. Right now I'm going for a light warm brown (looks like a caramel), which looks great with my skintone. I recently went a little darker with a demi permanent color which ended up like dark brown, almost black (it's supposed to be a medium brown) and didn't like it. So I went with ColorFix to remove the demi color. Now, my hair's much lighter after stripping. Now, I'm a little concerned if I do reapply new color will it become darker because my hair's a little fragile? The new color is about the same level as my hair now but should I leave it on as directed or in half of time just to tone a bit? I got a liquid permanent color by Wella. Just wash in the color without leaving it on too long? Thanks.

Use a shade lighter than your target shade as it will probably grab on to your hair more because its porous. You will need to leave the colour in as it says in the manufactures instructions, otherwise the colour will just wash out your hair, after 1 wash.

^^^I agree, use a lighter shade than you want --- maybe even two shades lighter with a golden or neutral base. I would even spray your hair down till it's damp with a leave-in conditioner to even up your porosity.

Also, you don't need permanent colour --- you could use deposit-only or demi-permanent colour to get your darker results. It's less damaging.

Good luck!Tongue

Thanks for your feedback! This is a picture of my hair after stripping out the darker demi color. I didn't apply the new color yet because I thought this color is nearly perfect and didn't want to ruin it. Here's my current color below.

The new color I got is Wella Color Charm 7W Caramel.

Is this light enough or do I need to go lighter? Can I use this on my new root growth or do I have to pre bleach in prior using this color on my roots? My natural color is much darker than this.

That's a really pretty colour! thanks for posting that pic; really helps.

That 7W Wella colour is a good level to go with, BUT, it's already warm in tone. If you put that on your roots (which I gather are about a level 5?) they are going to come up orange/red! You need to offset the underlying pigment in your hair when it lightens with an ash or neutral 7 hair colour. Since the colour you have now looks a bit golden, I would say you could go with a neutral Level 7 colour or even ash.
