Hi there,
Around 6 weeks ago, I made an appointment to get warm brown with slight highlights.  It turned out a terrible blonde.  Following your advice, I used a colour gloss which made it a bit more tolerable.  Thanks.

Yesterday, I tried again with a new hairstylist.  I brought a pic and told her that's what I want.  Here's the pic: http://l.yimg.com/img.tv.yahoo.com/tv/us/img/site/67/02/0000006702_20060920135432.jpg.
She described it as light caramel brown.  I said yes, that's what I want.

So...now I have very dark brown, almost black hair with few dark highlights.  What the hell!!!?

Is it possible she mixed the dye wrong?  I had very dark brown roots.  Do you think she just didn't want to bother lightening the roots?  I know she was in a rush because she didn't have time to dry my hair.  I was late so I said that's fine.

I'm so upset because dark brown is what I didn't want!!!  My hair is naturally dark brown and that's all I've had forever.  I switched from drugstore dye to professionals because I wanted to go lighter.  I'm back where I started a month and a half ago but my hair is more damaged and I'm a whole lot poorer.

During a break from crying, I got up enough guts to call her back to see if there's anything she can do.  She agreed to put in more highlights today.  I hope she's not planning on charging me!  The thing is, there is no way it's going to be nearly as light as I want.

So...I'm thinking of going to a super upscale salon with stylists that have been doing hair for 30 years and just putting it on my credit card (I'm out of money again).  I'm going to bring a million pictures of what I want and what I don't want.  How soon can I go so that my hair won't be super damaged.

The pictures look pretty close to the same now.  Very nice.

Black lowlights...really?  Interesting.

I guess people see different things.  I found a website to describe what I'm seeing...if you're curious...http://www.wiggoddess.com/margucolors.html).  I see a mix of 27 and 27AH.

What I have now (she added more highlights for free this morning) is tolerable.  I mean, it looks nice but it's not what I wanted.  I think I'm going to just leave it.  I'm starting to get over the dissappointment of ending up with dark brown after being so excited for light caremel brown or dark strawberry blonde or whatever you want to call it.

I'm going to try to add a picture so you can see what it looks like now.

Honestly, I think your hair is a lovely, very shinny and healthy looking hair.

The colour will fade a little, if you feel its too dark. Personally I don't think its too dark, Its gorgeous.

Looking at the photo of you and the one you showed the stylist, they are really almost identical.  I can see hers has a little bit more lightness past the shoulders, but that could even just be the lighting.  I'm sorry I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear, but it is a nice color, and I agree, the highlights will probably lighten up even more as you spend time in the sun and wash it more times.

I have to agree with Susan and the others. Your hair looks awesome and looks, basically, like what you asked for! You could just gradually add more highlights (like what she added) next month and it will eventually look lighter. Smile
Love clip-ins and tape!
