Thank you both for your input! I think it's going to be the brown on the underside and honey blonde highlights on top. I'm really excited! My friend is going to do it for me next Thursday so I'll try to remember to post before and after pics. :]

IA with Susan, the brown underneath sounds pretty with the auburn on top. Those two tones work really well together too and you can always put the blonde on top when you feel like it. Hope it goes well!
Natural redheads usually have a pink skin tone. Warm or golden blonde may or may not work with that. (If you can wear a lemon yellow shirt and it doesn't make your skin look too pink, then you'll know yellow blonde works for you). Alternatively, you could go for white blonde, which should work, or maybe ash blonde.
I agree with you though, doing the underside brown and leaving some red on top as highlights sounds really pretty. Even if you do want the red on top to be blonde eventually, it's best to leave it out of the darker underneath dye, or you'll just have to remove that dye from those pieces before you go lighter anyway.

I want to keep my natural color as one of the tones. Should I go blonde on top and leave my dark auburn red on the bottom? Or would it look all right to leave my auburn on top and do a chocolate-y brown on the bottom? I'd prefer to leave my auburn on top if possible because I'd like to do blonde highlights on top.
