Help, I usually do my own hair in between relaxers and go to my fellow dominicans when I get frustrated, and have them trim my ends )which I know you should do with each touch up and I don't) Well now you will see why, I always have this problem I tell them trim and they cut, they cut my hair so it is all the same length, which is bad for me as one side is longer and grows faster than the other. So here we go again, I feel bald, no ends, no pony tail, and I always worry it will not grow back. As we get older Im not sure our hair grows as fast or as healthy. Correct me if I'm wrong, and my diet aint that great either, so how do I get it to grow back to at least where my bang is back to my chin, and have an ample amount of hair to style, I never had shoulder length hair, just slightly above, now it looks like a minature bob, its dry and course (not usre if this hot sun and heat killed it this year).. Its just these so called trim sthey give me look godd at first, then I cry at how short they made my hair, then the stylin problems set in and the dryness, and not holding curls like it use too with a healthy bounce, Please if you experienced this or cut hair and have skills and how to get it to grow back, etc.. let me know. I also hair our hair grows in the summer and breaks in the winter? I like dom. hair products, use pantene, etc.. perm I use olive oil now as it does great for gals, but prior i used motions, affirm, and creme of nature. Are the dom. perm products good? I just need a new regime from perm, shampoo, deep cond, rinse etc.. and especially with the dryess, something that keeps it looking sleek but wont make it heavy and too oily, yet my curls will hold up with this heat. HELP.. Your 411 is appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.. CheeChee

Hey

For the dryness sounds like u need a good moisture treatment - this means both water based  (to hydrate) and oil  based(to lock in moisture). A very good product I can recommend is Jojoba oil. You can find it online(jojobaking.com or in a natural health food store. 0It closely resembles the sebum our own body produces and there are no side effects. Apply a small amount to your hand rub together then smooth through your hair and scalp .For hydration you can try Botanicals Hair Moisturizing Cream it is water based and clear and  contains minimal amounts of lanolin, petrolatum or mineral oil.

In the products that you buy make sure they do NOT contain large amounts of petrolatum, lanolin or mineral oil. These products coat the shaft of the hair and locks moiture in or out. Or if they do, there is only a little of it. the closer to the bottom of the ingredients list - the better. Next you may wanna check out the thread on this forum  about homemade recipes. It is in this section. Try some of the at home hot oil treatments and oil mixtures and look for some improvement.

You do not need to do your ends everytime you get a touch up UNLESS your ends are split. The reason you may not be seeing any growth is that whenever you get some you get it cut off.  There are some fabulous suggestions for taking care of your ends such as protecting your ends and keeping them mositurized and away from clothing that can snag of cause undue friction on your ends. These can also be found in this forum.

For curls - try pin curling your hair may hold it nicely since it is short. Also try to minimize the amount of heat you use. If you're going to the Dom salon, opt for a roller set WITHOUT a blow out = go home use your moisture products wrap it up and then see how it goes from there.

Have patience with your self and with your hair. If your diet isn't all that gr8 mke an effort for improvement - at least take a multvitamin.

Hope this info is helpful. Happy growing.
