I'm a strawberry blonde. I have been all my life with the exception of high lights I got well over a year and a half ago. I've always wanted to dye my hair though and never have because of my one big fear: that I will dye it, like it but then when I am done with it, I won't be able to go back.

I am very fond of my natural color, but I just want something different until next summer. So I had taken quite a liking towards Ashlee Simpson's current hair color (something I never thought I would ever admit, ever). I would definitely take my hair to a stylist to get it done. But I am assuming getting my hair color back would cost a ridiculous amount if I went to the stylist 9 months later.

So I guess I have two questions:

1. Is it worth the risk of screwing up my hair?
2. If I get the hair color done how amazingly hard is it going to be to get it back?

Here are pictures since visuals always help.

A couple pictures of my hair:

PS. I looked around the forums and saw how helpful everyone is, so I just made this account.

You have beautiful hair Mediocrity! Thanks for posting the pics --- really helps.

You can definitely go darker red and it shouldn't be too hard at all. I would discuss your concerns with your hairdresser beforehand though. Make sure she is using a demi colour like Color Sync that can be removed with a remover. She MAY have to use a permanent colour since they are easier to get out of the hair (believe it or not!). It shouldn't be very damaging to your hair if you only reapply to your roots every month. Red fades out, so you should buy a colour shampoo/conditioner right away to maintain your new colour. It is also very difficult to remove from the hair (weird, eh?), so be aware of that when the time comes to go back to your natural colour.

Good luck!
Love clip-ins and tape!

I think you have beautiful hair too.If I had your color I would never dye it.

I agree with fakeizme that it would easy to do...but it would not be easy to get it back.

I think that color would look good on you.  Have fun with your hair when you're young.

You can go darker no problem.  My daughter has hair similar to yours.  She gets tired of her strawberry locks (I wish I had that problem) from time to time.  I use a demi-permanent color on her so it will gradually fade away, but she will not "get roots."  If you like the color darker, you could always go back in a few months for more.  I agree that sometimes permanent color is sometimes easier to remove, but I have not encountered that unless you count the girls who want black hair one week then blonde the next.
Keep us posted!

I wouldn't dye that pretty hair of yours. If u want a diff. color just use Artec color Shampoo.U can order it online. They have all kinds of colors. That way if u don't want it, u can wash it out.I'm trying to get your hair color.I have been coloring my a drak color for so long , that it's hard to get it lights as yours.Be glad u have strawberry blonde.I love it! If I were u. I'd try a a reddish color in Artec so that way u will be ok.I think u should enhance your natural color.Try Strawberry Blonde Shampoo. Artec is a color deopsiting shampoo.Which means it colors the shaft of your hair. It's safe.Read up about it online.Good luck girl :)
