To anyone that can help me.... I've been dying my own hair for as long as I can remember..I'm always blonde.. sometimes with bleach depending on what i can get my hands on. I don't earn much money so can never afford a hairdresser however I have a stockist who has been supplying me with goldwell and other decent hair products.

I have just used goldwell 11v (Violet for blonde) on my hair with a 12% 40 Vol peroxide, I only wanted to touch up my roots but for some reason the roots have gone bright coppery yellow and the bit that was already lightened has gone blue!!!! I left the colour on for long enough. I cannot understand why it has not lifted the roots to a blonde and I cannot undertstand why the blonde bits have catched the blue. Am I using the wrong colour... do I need a stronger lifter??? Bleach maybe? My hair is naturally a medium to light brown. thanks guys

Lifting more might do it, but since you got yellow, you are getting it lifted about enough. (I'm not sure if 11v is a high lift color - I use Clairol 12 as the high lift to do mine -  but you may have better luck with a high lift if it isn't one). Its orange because you didn't use a color with a base that counters the orange that comes out.  Violet won't do it, you need to use a blue based blonde color.

As for the rest of it staining blue, that usually doesn't happen when you go lighter.  Maybe this 11V is actually darker than what your hair was (any chance you are not blonde, but platinum white?).  Even so though, that's usually not a problem, so I would imagine you can fade the blue pretty quickly.  Try either washing with dish washing liquid, using a clarifying shampoo, or mixing baking soda half and half with shampoo and just washing the blue parts with that.  You will need to condition really well afterwards.
