Hey my name is Teana in a week I'm going to be going from brown to blonde and I don't know if it's worth it I want blonde soooo sooo bad but everytime I go blonde they do get it blonde they just destroy my hair and I don't get how those girls can dye their hair from black to plat. blonde and still have smooth beautiful hair... :(   I know I have damaged hair I also have about 3inches of untouched virgen hair from my roots and i dunno what to think... The last time I had my hair dyed blonde it was so fuzzy because I do have naturally curly hair but I straighten it but even when it was straightened it was just a big poof ball

Anywho...

I'll post some photos of what my hair was before I coloured it dark again many months ago and I'll post what I want... See the huge different between me, the girl with the guy and the other girl in the other photo... What are my hair dressers doing wrong ?:(

Do you use a flat iron to straighten it? What are the products that you use & what are the ones that your hair dresser uses (if you know?) Does she FOIL your hair or section it & let each area get to the proper level?

Also this doesn't look like something you should try by yourself (since you said your hair is damaged & it really needs to be watched while it is lightening) & retouched & possibly a demi put on or toned. Are there other respectable hair dressers in the area perhaps using Goldwell or Wella products.

I have no idea about the last part I found a guy that seems rly good and he owns his own shop and has been in many high tech hair shows and stuff and he said he could do it but Iono the last person that bleached my hair bleached it twice doing the ends first and then the roots and put me under head for 20minutes and then used a rly rly high volume toner and parts of my hair went grey in a matter of minutes lol. I was using a violet shampoo and loreal repair products that spelt like bananas.... I don't plan on doing such a big job myself seeing as how id either go orange or lose all my hair... but you can clearly see how dead my hair looked it is much better now I do flat iron it but I use one of those ion conditioning NP straighteners it actually makes my hair look healthier...

I just don't know :(

First, a professional flat iron is a must (I swear I could not live without my CHI flat iron) then a smoothing serum to tame the frizzies and flyaways once it's straightened (CHI makes a nice one)!  Second, treatments, treatments, treatments!!  I apply a 20-minute protein mask once every other week followed by a moisture treatment, I also use healing leave-in treatment everytime I wash my hair (try using one that has a thermo protectant or is heat activated, like Kerastase Ciment Thermique). And as much as you can, try using professional products bought from a salon for your shampoo/condition, masks and treatments.

There is always going to be a certain level of damage when bleaching but if you treat your hair really well in between bleachings and use the right products, you can have smooth and glossy blonde hair.

I'm naturally dark and keeping my hair blonde is an obsession. I love it and I think it's worth all the trouble!! I find keeping them fairly healthy is the easy part though...it's achieveing that nice white blonde that is the hard part for me!!!

Bleach and heat are a definite no no. What colour is your hair now?

If you can get a hairdresser to use a hi- lift colour ( depending if you already have previous colour, then need to bleach) I use Ion hi lifts with a 000 booster, on clients, with great results. Using bleach and heat does fry's the hair.

Well, when I get my hair bleached, the hairstylist does not use heat...

However, when it comes to styling my hair, I personally straightened my bleached hair with a professional flat iron every time I wash my hair (about twice a week). And my hair might be slightly more damaged because of it but it always looks nice and smooth. The alternative would be to have one HUGE monster head of wavy frizzies (they looked like that when they were their natural color too)!!

Just make sure to ALWAYS use a leave-in heat proctecting product.

I suppose if someone has very fine hair, it might be different. I have very thick, coarse wavy hair. They can take the heat...so to speak..  Tongue

Hi Pinkpop,

Using bleach without heat is OK, just not with heat as the 2 together can make the hair like candy floss.

Well done for using a heat protector on your hairThumbs%20Up

That is what I was worried about. Bleach/Heat & also flat irons on delicate hair too... I wondered if using straightener or heating treatments or certain products (cones) would cause buildup or damage & then leave a spot that may not take color or bleach. But, I imagine clarifying, acidifying, chelating *protecting* takes care of all that :). I think if I did use a flat iron I would wish for it to be one with temperature change too.  Seeing hair bubbles in a "boiled" hair strand scares the daylights out of me.  Idk what the safe temp is. I love to learn of all the good products to protect. Thank YOU!

There is this actress on Eureka Sci Fi. Her poor hair looks like it needs a rest from whatever it is they are doing to it!

Is the 000 Booster (ion?)

Yes, the 000 booster is ion, and can be used with the ion hi lift colour to give up to 6 levels of lift.
