I have been dyeing my hair Black for the last four years. My hair is naturally Brown. I have just decided recentley to go from black to a Dark golden Brown. I know already that black is a very difficult color to get out of hair. I have been reading differnet related articles online about getting Black out of hair- and it seems that everyone thinks that it will either fry your hair or come out looking like a Pumpkin. I have very healthy, strong, hair and I am letting it grow really long- So Im in fear that my hair may be damaged by what ive heard. I made a consultation with a really good salon fo this weekend. I need some really good advice. There has got to be a way or a product to fade the Black besides Bleach.. Im just not sure what? Does anyone out there know of any solution or product?
Im not really going drastic measures- im only going black to dark Brown? Please help!

Hi Rose,

I know very little about coloring so I'm not even going to attempt to dispense advice on that one, but please, whatever you decide make sure to be careful with your hair. You can't ever repair chemically damaged hair because it lacks the cellular regeneration for restoration---so if your hair is strong and looks good now, take extra precautions if you have any process done so it stays that way! (Especially since you are growing it long!) I hope someone else better-versed in color will pick up on this one. Good luck Rose!

Hi CJR; There are newer color removers out ...like Rusks' Elimin8...

I won't say that they won't damage your hair, but IMO they are much easier on hair than the old soup caps we used to use...

Hi Rose! From what little I know, it depends on your hair type, etc...good idea getting a consultation beforehand. I'd really suggest having a professional do it. It costs more $$$$$ but its probably worth it to avoid the risk of wrecking your hair, especially if you're trying to grow it out.
