Yes, it does work, and yes it will bleed. I used Fuchsia RIT with some Human 613 and it wasn't very bright, but it worked.
If you're looking for a very pretty fuchsia I recommend Shapeshifter from Doctored Locks, its a monofiber but really really soft and pretty. But it's loose so you'll need to per-tip depending on your install method.

I believe you use Dylon in the UK? That works too I believe, just make sure you leave the hair in the pot over night (without heat of course) and you may have to do this a couple times to get the color nice and bright! Good Luck!
This is a combination of "Fuchsia and Scarlet" RIT on hair that is Bohyme 18/22. The color on the bottom on my shoulders.
There is an old post here where I documented a fabric dye experiment that me and another BHM member tried.. If you do a search for "fabric dye" & my user name you should find it..
In short, fabric dyes work well, but you need to use an acid dye versus an all purpose dye such as the Rit dye you can buy in your local grocery store.. The reason is that acid dyes are used to dye natural fibers such as silk or wool. If you think about it, human hair would be treated like a natural fiber, and therefore you would use the same kind of fabric dye to color it.. HTH..
