Judge Gives Brush Off To Hair Color Lawsuit. - A Connecticut judge has given the brush-off to a woman’s lawsuit claiming L’Oreal Inc. ruined her social life when she accidentally dyed her hair brunette with one of its products.
Charlotte Feeney of Stratford says she can never return to her natural blond hue, a shock that she claims left her so traumatized she needed anti-depressants.
She says she suffered headaches and anxiety, missed the attention she received as a blond and had to stay home and wear hats most of the time.
A Superior Court judge dismissed Feeney’s 2005 lawsuit Monday.
The judge says Feeney never proved her allegation that L’Oreal put brown hair dye in a box labelled as blond. L'Oreal denies any wrongdoing.
Do you agree that hair color mistakes experienced with home hair color (which was this case) should be settled in the courts? Keep in mind that taxpayers do pay taxes for maintaining the courts.
Or do you think issues like the one above should be eligible for court battles? This battle has been ongoing since 2005.

Mistakes can happen even with these big hair product manufacturing companies, however its all down to proving that what happened did actually happen.
An example, we purchase professional colours in our salon only, I wont mention any company brands. One of the hi lift colours had the numbering system on the box of the tube of colour, however no same numbering/name on the actual tube of colour. So we discarded the tube of colour as it could have been any shade. So it can happen.
I believe mistakes can happen, but I'm glad they threw that one out of court, as I think its another one of those frivolous suits that help ruin the system for people with legitimate problems. And I don't buy for a second that "she can never return to her natural blonde hue", I see that all the time here!

Hi Susan,
Yes...I agree that mistakes can happen...even the haircolorist I have now, who is awesome, left me with blonde stripes on my bangs the last time I went to see her for highlights. She apologized and told me to come back in a few days and she would fix it free of charge.
I never went back because the stripes blended in after the first shampoo and I knew she did her best but some of the foils just didn't take right. So I was fine with what happened.
However, to say you could never go back to blonde is over the top. It is more likely that natural curls never return after chemical treatments gone back but color can usually be recovered.
Thanks for your feedback.

I always review the inserts, even when I've used a brand many times. Last time I colored I noticed something I'd not seen before. It said that users should verify that the colorant tube is labeled correctly. I always check the tube before coloring! I think it's the buyer's responsibility.
Also, headaches and anxiety and wearing hats? It does sound very frivilous!
I hope you are well Karen, it's been a long time since we've had contact.

Hi Elissa,
I'm with you. I read everything on the product labels before using anything since hair care companies have a habit of changing things w/out mentioning it. Or making it well-known.
Thank you for asking - I am well. I hope the same is true for you?
Email/bmail me sometime and we can catch up. :-)

I'm glad they threw it out! She can go back blonde. She just wants money is what I think.Sorry to sound rude, but I tell how I feel. She needs to get on with her life & be happy that she has a life. It's worse things to worry about besides being blonde. There are people that don't even have hair because of cancer & she's worrying about her hair color.
