QuoteReplyTopic: Faux Facial Hair: Preserving and applying natural. Posted: October 19 2008 at 7:48pm
I've found, even on the world wide web, information on the topic of creating and caring for fake facial hair is very scarce, so I decided to actually register for a hair forum and ask for advice. Hopefully someone knowledgeable in the ways of wig making or perhaps just a general hair professional can help me with a few problems I seem to have.
You see, I am trying to create fake facial hair for theatrical purposes, and I was wondering....As an alternative to buying expensive *human hair, or kinky canicula and crepe hair, is it possible to cut off my own real hair (a good length) and use it as application for fake facial hair?
One; it would look real (since it is real, and two; it matches the color and type of my actual hair. My concerns come to matching the texture of facial hair however, as I am not actually sure how real hair (donated for theatrical uses as facial hair) is textured, and I am not sure what the proper method is to sterilize the hair without damaging it.
Any and all information and help on this topic would be greatly appreciated.
After cutting hair, the hair becomes dried out and starts to lose its colour/tone,elasticity due to no actual source feeding the cuticle. So basically I personally think to use real hair for your intended purpose would not be suitable, sorry.
Well not that I know of. I understand when making hair extensions, they tend to use Asian hair as Asian hair is coarse and straight, I also understand that they have a procedure that help keeps the hairs colour, and condition, etc. Finding out this information from these big companies will be impossible.
