Thanks for the link, Brenda. Lots of good information there, and for the most part it checks otu (especially the discussion on center parts and how very few people have the symmetrical face needed to pull it off. So true!) The only part I'm a little skeptical of is the recommendation to brush hair 50 strokes a day. Brushing roughs up the cuticle and is more damaging than combing. When I learned this through my reading I cut back on brushing to only when necessary and the breakage abated. Otherwise--great info; thanks Brenda!

Thank you,,, Everyone.. Same here,, I don't believe in brushing hair that much either,,, I read somewhere on the Internet,, I don't remember where.. But why they use to brush hair 50 to 100 strokes was because they only washed their hair 1 time a week or 1 time every 2 weeks,,, they brushed the hair to distribute the oil and the dirt in the hair, and away from the scalp...
My hair is only shoulder length, and my hair is layered in the front, but trying to take care of it as best as I can,,, my goal is to get it down to my waist... or maybe even past...
thanks again, Have a great hair day and Hairs to you Brenda

BrendaH, Could the product you are looking for be Tame? It sounds an awful lot like that from your description. I am not sure if there was a shampoo that went with it, at least not when it first came out. If memory serves me correctly, it was one of the first cream rinses that promised to remove tangles and make for easier after shampoo combing.
Hello Demodoll you know, I think your right... When I read the name Tame. it was like the light bulb in my head went off...LOL My mom only had the conditioner, I don't remember what kind of shampoo she used, but I only remember some of what the conditioner looked like,, I don't know why... Thanks so much Demodoll... I'm going to check the internet and see what comes up on Tame,,,, Thank you Hairs to you Brenda
Hello Demodoll I got a hold of my mom...and I asked if Tame rang a bell with her... She said, that's it... Thank you so much.. Now to see if I can find some info on the web about it... that's going to take some looking...
Tame is the only thing my mom used in my hair to condition it... until she had it all cut off when I was in 6th grade.. I loved my hair..it was to my waist or a little past... wish she would of let me take care of it, instead of cutting it..
My hair has never been the same... I am nearing 40 in the next couple of months, my hair has never really grown past my shoulders.. So I am trying to take care of it to see if it will...
I have been seeing Breck shampoo in the stores again... It be so funny if they brought back Tame...
Really? Break shampoo is back? how fun.....I wouldn't be a bit surprised if started seeing Tame too. All of us Boomers are growing up and just for the nistolgia we would try it at least once. lol
Glad to be able to help out but I don't know about using Tame. It is probably really greasy. It was the only thing around which is why everyone used it. I guess it was the first cream rinse or something. It came about in the age when women went for a shampoo and set (i.e. tease and spray) once a week and didn't touch their hair again, except for some strategic pulling as the week wore on, until the next appointment. Yuck. Makes me shudder. But some women are STILL doing that....
