going red from blonde

So my natural hair color is a dirty blonde, and I've been dying it a lighter blonde for oh about 10 years. I've always dyed it myself with box color. I want to try to go red, i know there are tons of shades, but I'm thinking something like the color of Kate Walsh's hair (Addison on Grey's Anatomy or Private Practice). I really enjoy the darkness, but I'm afraid of it fading out. My hair is very fine and short, a few inches above my shoulders and I'm also working on growing it out... i'd say about 2 inches of my natural color have grown out. I have a pinkish tone to my skin color, and i'm nice and pale now that summers over! Does anyone have any advice? I've been thinking about this for a few months but I'm not sure if its going to work out as I plan. My major fear is that my hair will be terrible for when i get married which wont be until june 2010... so I do have some time

I totally agree with Karen. Don't do it! If you are totally convinced that you would like to be red permanently, then maybe. Just know that red is extremely hard to get out. In my experience, even red semis are hard to get totally out.
