QuoteReplyTopic: Color Remover or Bleach????? Posted: January 21 2009 at 7:56am
Iv'e been coloring my own hair blonde for a long time now with rather good luck using Dream Blonde medium blonde level 8 color when doing the roots so as to not have it looking too drastic when growing out. The majority of the top layer and ends are a light blonde. Until recently I was satisfied but when I pull my hair back it was looking too dark for me so I decided to put some hightlights in. Well some turned out great but it also turned the underneath and near the root area in some parts too warm/brassy and it is now interspersed with warm tones throughout. I tried color removal and re dyeing to an ash to cancel out the brass. It looks fine for a little while then the old color and brassiness comes right back out.
Should I try to remove color again and use a protein filler (colored or clear) or should I bleach out near the roots (where the brassiness is) and recolor?
My ultimate desired color which I have been trying to attain with no luck would be a medium/dark neutral beige/champagne/sandy blonde base with lightest blonde (not gold) highlights.
bleach is very harsh , i would stick with just the color remover and a neutral color protien filler.
i used a product call red out by ardell, it's sold at Sallys in a little tube by the hair color correctors, it always worked for me when i had brassiness happening in a few spots.
Thank you suicides eve. I actually just did that very thing yesterday. I bought a deposit only medium ash blonde 8A with a little bottle of red-out mixed it with 20 vol prior to that I put in Lorea'l color primer to coat the hair. It is now a muted ash blonde with no brassiness I am now going to add a few more highlights as the ones I had before got a little covered up and don't look as bright.
