when I was at the drugstore today I noticed all the moisturizing, non-breakage, oil products targeted towards African American women. can those products be used on Caucasian hair too? I know a lot of it is oil based and is to be applied on the scalp, but if used in moderation, it couldn't hurt my hair could it?
I wondered about the growth formulas that are sold. does anyone know? thanks?

I guess it depends on what is in it, but AA hair is much different than Caucasian hair. I tried a tiny amount of an AA product once (it was a creme) and it really made my hair look greasy
I have to agree, it really tends to make the hair look greasy and gross. I have really thick hair and I love this product that is an olive oil shine spray, however, it started making my hair look really nasty. As far as the growth formulas, I really have never heard that they work..
Since my hair is curly/dry/fragile I follow alot of techniques used for African hair. I have checked into the AA type products and found that most of them are loaded with cones, so I avoid them. They're also loaded with cholesterol, protein, etc. These things are good for your hair, but moderation is key..... you know... too much of a good thing is not so good.
As for making hair look greasy, you have to keep in mind that curly/kinky hair is more able to handle greasiness and still look good. Straight hair lays flat against itself and your head and clumps and looks dirty when it's greasy. Curls have volume and clumping only makes them look better.
