I hope this works... need some help here!

Im new to this board, and im looking for some help with my problems. Ok so i have dyed hair. Its lightist brown(looks red in the sun) and I dont want to dye my hair with permanent again because I dont want to damage it. My plan is to dye my hair with semi-permanent(pretty much its non permenant)colour every 6 - 8 weeks untill my roots have grown a significant amount. I look really good with deep brown hair so i plan on using that. Is this a good idea? Any suggestions you can make for me? Will the semi-permanent deep brown colour have any affect on the colour I currently have when it fades? Or if theres any kinda of products out there will make my hair right now seem darker and hide the red. All the help i can get would be really appreciated.

With the red, I'd think you would be ok with a semi with some ash.
