QuoteReplyTopic: Where would I find a hair-care dictionary? Posted: June 05 2003 at 3:52am
What is a surfectant? Why would you use mousse vs gel vs nothing? What are names of popular hair styles? How do you tell if a hairstyle is 'cool' or not?
I'm a geek. I have ZERO knowledge of hair. I grew up without even knowing that having 'good hair' was important when relating to people sometimes. First impressions and all.
I HATE my hair. And I can't ask for what I want if I don't know how to speak the language. So where can I go to get an education? I could surf these forums for hours but I don't have enough time in a week to sift through it all for what I need. I'm looking for basically a 'vocabulary' page so that I understand the terms hairstylists use.
Read Paula Begoun's "Don't Go Shopping for Haircare Products Without Me" or Ruth Winter's cosmetic dictionary. Between the two you'll learn more than you could ever imagine about poylquaternium-11, sodium styrene and all SORTS of thrilling terms! Also, I have a rather lengthy ingredient glossary if you'd like a copy. Send me your email address via boardmail and I'll get it to you.
