Are fusion extensions hard to take care of?

I am contemplating getting fusion extensions but I'm a little skeptical. Can anyone tell me the upkeep regimen they require? I've heard not to wash them in hot water or they will become sticky, and also that conditioner can make them fall out. Any information would help! Thanks.

Fusion is more work than a sew in weave method of attaching the hair though all extensions require some form of upkeep. There is no "set it and forget it" method that I am aware of on the market currently.

The main complaint I had with fusion was they slip out (which can happen in awkward an embarrassing moments) and you are constantly checking to make sure one isn’t dangling. The more hair you have installed, the more this can occur and the longer you wear them, the more often it will happen.

I have also experienced much more damage to my natural hair and zero growth while wearing fusion extensions.

Weaves are less expensive and they are simply sewn to your own hair which has been braided so it’s not going anywhere. The only problem you might encounter is if you have very thin hair in which case some extra reinforcement might be required such as rubber bands or additional braiding hair.

I prefer sew in now and will never go back to fusion.

I am basing these comments on my own experience with the two methods.

Like krimsa said, any method of extension takes some extra care.  My current install, which is fusion, has been the easiest to take care of.  I went with fusion this time because I kept losing my back tape.  I don't have trouble with slipping bonds or losing any bonds.  The main thing I am careful with is combing my hair, especially where my bonds are so I don't damage my hair. 
 
I am wearing a mix of 909 and russian hair that I tipped myself w/ the chips from donna bella.  This is the best glue for me, it doesn't go white, doesn't degrade, peel or get gummy.
