I'm planning to do my own extensions (my mother will help in back),  using the Micro Link method. But I have fine hair.   (I can do Sewn-In or Clip-Ins, if you all feel that's safer, but Micro would be my fist choice.)

I'm worried that Indian and Asian hair won't mix in well with my fine hair.  I've seen Bohyme hair listed as "European", but when I looked at the company's web site it seems to be in Korea. Would Bohyme hair be sutable for someone with fine hair?   What other brands do you suggest?

Can anyone suggest good, reasonably priced, sources for European and/or fine-textured hair?   (I don't want to spend a fortune!)

Indian hair can be thinner than asian hair like Bohyme.

I have baby fine hair but wear Bohyme and I love this hair. Even though the texture is different, I can blend it very well with my own hair.

"european" hair doesn't mean the hair is from europe.

Either indian or asian should be fine, but if you're worried, you can try russian hair. It's very very expensive though.

If you want a less pricey option, I would try indian -there're lots of websites- or asian.

Thank you for replying!  Since it sounds as though we may have the same type of hair, maybe you can answer something else for me....
 
I'm torn between two different types of Bohyme hair, Silky Straight and French Refined Wave.  My hair is basically straight, but I'm concerned when they call Silky Straight "sleek", because my hair isn't sleek-straight.  It has a very slight bit of wave to it, but the French Refined Wave might be too wavy?
 
Can you advise me?

Hey Virgo-
I would not recommend the French Refined texture to you. I have never worn it myself, but I have seen a few installs with it and read a bunch of reviews on this texture.
It seems to require some work after a while and it is a LOT of volume.
 
You could however try the bodywave texture, which has a bit more bounce and isn't as straight as the silky straight.
I find that the Silky Straight texture is not totally straight though, it has a slight wave to it when I let it air dry.
A lot of people think that the Silky Straight is the most durable of all Bohyme textures, so it it something to take into account as well.
If you plan on ordering 2 packs, get one of each texture -they should blend very well- to get a feel of both.
Both should work fine for you I think.

Oh, and don't be fooled by how the hair looks right of the package, it won't look just as silky straight after a couple of washes!

Thank you!  You have been very, very helpful!  I did look at the Body Wave type, but the web site I'm thinking of ordering from, hairyoulike.com, doesn't carry Body Wave in a 22" length.  Are you familiar with HairYouLike?  Their prices look pretty good! 
 
Oh, and may I ask what extension method you're using?  I was planning to do Micro Links, because it's supposed to be the least damaging.

I haven't used Hairyoulike myself, if you want to check out the reputation of this vendor, I'd do a quick search on old posts in this forum. Just type their company name as a keyword, you'll get an idea.
I have used Ebonyline.com and hairsisters.com, they have the best prices on silky straight textures, I have never searched for bodywave though. They offer free shipping on bohyme which is pretty cool.
There are a lot of other good vendors for Bohyme, esthersonline is good, gobunnys too. If you need special customer service, I know that Sherrie -hairextensions101- and Singer -reallylikeit- are very good with that and will take the time to advice you.
I hated the microlinks method myself, but it doesn't mean it's not gonna work for you. I have found it very damaging on my hair but again, it was my own experience, and I probably did a terrible job with this. And the links weren't silicone lined.
Easy techniques for first times DIYers are the tape, or Liquid Gold glue. I love the LG technique personally, it's easy, easy to clean up with the appropriate products, and cheap.
If you want to try individual bonds, it's a good idea to try microlinks, some women are very happy with this method and I have seen beautiful install with this.
If your hair is very fine though, the links might show through, so be careful with the placement.
Another method for individual bonds that I have heard is pretty easy to use and not damaging is manemax. It's a trial and error process in the end!

I'll look into the Liquid Gold thing, but I had read that glues were more damaging.  Hmm.....
 
OK, I think this is my last question.  Do you moisturize your extensions every time you wash your hair?  What do you use to moisturize them?

I always condition my extensions, it is a necessity. I use Pantene conditioners mostly for my day to day routine. I have a few other & more expensive options but really most of the time I like Pantene ones.
Make sure to use a clarifying poo every once in a while on your extensions though.
Silicone serums like John Frieda serums are a big plus too.

So, when they say to "moisturize" your extensions, they just mean use a conditioner?  I thought they were talking about some special product, or to rub oil into them, or somthing.

I didn't find any references to hairyoulike.com on this board, but their prices look lower than either of the sites you suggested.  I hope that's a good sign, and not a bad one!

Well I don't know where you have read about 'moisturizing' so I can't tell you what people meant, however it is very likely that 'they' meant conditioning the hair. They are different ways to do so, you can do heavier conditioning treatment with coconut oil, it is great for hair extensions, but it's not something you do regularly.
 
As for the company you mentioned, I checked out the site and you're right, their prices are lower. I think this company is still on the 'old bohyme price', there was a big price increase last year I think.
 
I am pretty sure I ordered from them actually and never got anything from them. After a while and many emails, I just got a refund notice on my credit card. I'm not 100% sure it's this company, it was like more than 6 months ago.
I would however check hairextensions101 forum to do a quick search on old posts there. Sherrie tried ordering from them too I think, and posted about her experience.
I'll try to check old emails and confirm this to you.

ahh yes frenchie is correct, I did have some issues with that company...I dont like to post much about hair vendors for obvious reasons.  My experience with that company was less than pleasant. They offer great prices..but often dont have things when you try to order. Long story short, after several phone conversations I a placed an order and then they told me they didnt have what I needed and I had to wait awhile to get my money back.  Their OTHER website the prices are considerably higher.

BTW...I agree with Frenchies recommendations on the Pantene conditioner. Bohyme loves Pantene products. At least for me the Pantene products work very well.

I remember that there was a discussion about this company on your forum and we both had a similar experience.
Virgo, you can always try to order with them, but you might have similar issues, I don't know.

I don't think I will try them, after hearing both of your experiences!  Glad I mentioned it!!   And thank you both for the links.
 
I know there are some DIY extension articles on this web site, but can you recommend any that have step-by-step pictures? 
 
I'm undecided what method I'll be using.  I had read that Micro Links were the least damaging, but am open to other suggestions.

For tutorials with pics, there are a lot actually. Check out hairextensions101 I think Sherrie got some tutorials there, check out the store if not.
Amm has some tutorials too I think on shrinkies.net.
Then there are a lot of vendors who also have their own tutorials on their websites.
You could try youtube too.
