Hi everyone!

Well for a couple of years I dyed my naturally dark blonde/light brown hair to a near platinum with at home color from Sally's (ion color brilliance).  Needless to say my hair as pretty damaged so I eventually decided to go back to my natural color and went to a salon so they could do it properly.  I am now back to my natural color but I go back to get it colored slightly darker.  My problem is that it fades very very quickly, within one or two washes I'm back to what I was.  I was thinking about doing it myself using Sally dyes but I'm afraid my hair will damage.  Is there really a difference between doing it myself or going to a salon as far as damage control is concerned?  I feel that she's usign a semi permnanent although she claims she isn't and that's why it fades so quickly despite me using good color protecting shampoos.

Your hair colour is fading so quick because you have had all your natural colour pigment removed from your hair with bleaching etc. What is needed is for your hairstylist to pre pigment your hair (fill in the gold, using a filler or a semi permanent) Then re apply your natural colour over this. This will make a big difference to colour fade. Always follow manufactures instructions if your buying and doing your colour at home.

Ion Brilliance Demi is out now too (get the color objective chart if wish)free. You could try to tintback with a level :?(6) color or strand test. IT has instructions for deepening & tintback, 10 Vol is used. If your hair is too delicate and damaged for 10 maybe try a semi.  I read that a filler is 2 levels "lighter" than the desired color... ( I haven't really tried this as I am trying for the platinum) with the new10N, 10NA (lovely color, shine, glossy)...  There are other demi/semi's you could strand test with.  If you are going to a salon maybe try one with the Schwarzkopf Igora Viviance or Personality Color & Essensity line oooooh Wink
