QuoteReplyTopic: What's your opinion on all one length cut? Posted: August 24 2009 at 1:01am
For fine/thin hair, do you think an all one length cut below the shoulders is a good idea or not? I have heard mixed reviews-some say it will drag it down too much and look limper and finer--others say that all one length past shoulders will make it look thicker--what's your opinion? One more follow up--do you think bangs on thin/fine hair are a good idea or not (the longer kind)?

I know this sounds like a stupide question--but what exactlty are layers and how do stylists cut them? If I wanted to get layers that start at the chin, how exactly would the stylist do that? I mean do they cut only the end, or do they cut all around the head? I just don't get how they do them. Also, how can you get true layers and not those fringe like things on the sides? I hate those and I really want to avoid these!!!! I like when the hair looks like steps on the sides, not wispy fringes! SO how do you avoid that?

It all depends on the person, the hair, and the haircut. Some people will look amazing it a blunt cut... clean, fresh and polished, others will look out of date, drab and boring. Look up online what styles suit the face shape you have. Google is your friend.

Layers are cut all around the head so that, instead of hair being long and the only part cut is straight across at the very ends, it is cut so that the hair is shorter and lies ontop of hair a little farther down, almost like feathering, but not quite. That is what they mean by under layering. Ally<3 has good advice... it depends on the shape of your face. Hair can be layered short or long and when long, it gives the illusion of being as long as the ends. It promotes body and thinkness because longer hair creates flatness. It keeps a curl better. Layering is "in" right now, especially on actresses... at least that is what I am seeing. You need to see a stylest who can give you a better idea on how layering can compliment your face...good luck!
