Suggestion for Wife's Hair

I cut/color my wife's hair.  As you can see from the attached photo, her hair is mostly natural with slightly blonde highlights.  Cute shorter cut.  She is willing to go shorter but not much shorter.  She is also willing to try a little new color but nothing red.  I need your help finding a fun cut and/or fun color.  What I really want to do is have fun with the highlights but not go too blonde.  Thought about streaks but need to find something fun.  I have run out of ideas so I thought I would find out what you suggest.  Let me know.

She actually liked it but thought it was too dark.  Looking for something that is similar in cut but has some fun color....prefer blonde streaks or something like that.

maybe a cut like this? it's a very cool look imho.
