QuoteReplyTopic: Hair color problems! Need help urgently!!! Posted: August 30 2009 at 2:35am
I just dyed my hair today with Clairol's Herbal Essences 'Color Me Vibrant'. The color I used was "44 Paint The Town". It's a BEAUTIFUL Irish red color and I've always wanted my hair that color! I knew my hair would come out darker because of my natural hair color, but I though that would be okay.
To begin with, my hair is a dark brown, with reddish tints to it.
So I dyed my hair with this product, and when I finished...it turned a berry-red! I was horrified. I have a date coming up with the boyfriend, he doesn't care much about my appearance and nor do I, this is the first time I've ever dyed my hair (aside from wild colors within streaks) but honestly, this is horrendous.
The color I wound up getting was....
It looks a lot worse in person. The color I was going for...
What can I do to get that? Use lemon to sun-bleach my hair to get a few shades lighter, or will that bring out the berry more? Or re-color over it with another dye that will counteract to get me that beautiful red?
I'll purchase anything necessary to get that and get these berry locks away from my face! Thank you very much and I hope to get some replies soon!

Is the Second Color the color you have now because that is Very Gorgeous! Or at least what I see on my monitor is very close to the box!!! Are you wishing for Deeper color? Do you have any other photos of the wanted color? It will definately lighten naturally as red is hard to keep in... To Shampoo it out... Head and Shoulders dandruff shampoo. This shampoo has long been known
for its ability to strip color from hair. If you really need to fade
your too-dark hair quickly, try shampooing with Head and Shoulders
until your hair fades to the desired shade.
My Fav red http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=20347&page=3
Indola 8.64 But there are lots of different ways to get the color you desire.
Usually determine the level start at. Then if wish for brighter color a gold and red is applied to lift a tiny bit. If a deeper color is wished for then a Demi is applied. A demi with ammonia to lift a tiny bit & a demi without to deposit deeper.
Certain shampoos fade color fast. best remover of minerals, chemicals or semi or demi color stain is a product called Get Pure
Haircolor Removers depend on TYpe of color used semi, demi,, permanent Like Color Zap & other popular ones Elimin8 (Clairol UNCOLOR Or L'Oreal Effasol Or Effasor) Use With A 10 Vol. Creme Developer.
You could lighten with Luminize @ Sally's http://www.clairolpro.com/products/liquid_lighteners/luminize_lightener#
Use a clarifying shampoo
Metalex by Clairol
— A product that claims to remove problem overtones that occur from
hair colors that have deposited too much ash, red, copper, or lavender.
It contains sulphonated oil, which supposedly does the stripping. The
product only works for temporary hair dyes, not permanent hair dyes.
You can find this hair care product and many other specialty hair care
products at your local Beauty Mart or my favorite Folica.
Soap-bleach shampoo cooktail — The most effective, and will be the
most challenging to use. To lift out hair color, combine one packet of
bleach powder to two ounces of shampoo. You can add some water for
longer hair. Mix it up and shampoo into your hair. WATCH CLOSELY for
the hair turning lighter as the old hair color leaves. Wash it out when
the hair color has lifted out. It’s better to wash it out early as you
can redo this step as often as needed. Now you can apply a level two
hair color that you wanted in the first place.
What you will have if you try to shampoo the color out with these harsh shampoos is just ugly faded color. They will wash away all shine and fry your hair. You can always go over the color (next time never, ever use color from a box) with a demi-permanent color. BE CAREFUL!! Go a bit lighter than you would think, they come out darker than the swatch charts!!! If you need to fix it immediately, go to the beauty supply and buy one of the Clairol demis. They have their own developer whcih is very low in peroxide and ammonia. If you like the red, just go for a neutral brown (it will have a neutral base), not one with an ash base (no green/blue/violet) and not one with gold, certainly (which will bring out orange, red + yellow=orange). It will allow you to keep the red undertone, while putting back some of the brown.
This should fix the situation. However, next time, use a better quality product (even better than Sally's, they suck too). Order color from killerstrands.com. They carry Wella Koleston (pretty much the gold standard) and sell it to regular people, which is terrific. It's shinier, the colors are truer and last longer, and it doesn't wreck your hair. Yes, it's more expensive, but not terribly so. You can order it right on the website at the killerstrands store. You can download a color chart from the pictures file.
Good luck and let us know how it goes. Or how it went....
