QuoteReplyTopic: product suggestions and questions - platinum blond Posted: September 10 2009 at 2:48pm
Background of my hair -
My natural hair color is "dishwater" blonde, its a golden brownish blonde muck.
I keep my hair platinum blonde. (i'm probably about a level 9 - 10)
I used to dye my own, using color nad developer from sallys (with bowl/brush application) and I could never get all the yellow and gold out of my hair.
So I started going to bumble and bumble for my color
and they are *amazing* beyond amazing
I always tell my colorist, she isnt just a hair stylist she is an artist becuase its so true.
Sadly, I can't afford the $300 I was paying to get my roots done
So i'm going to attempt to recreate this myself
I'm not at all expecting my amazing colorists results but i'm hopefully to have a full head of blonde hair
I know that my colorist uses blonder cream, and i think ive been enough times to be able to minimic her application
but here are my questions...
1. Blonder Cream? i've never used it, or purchased it. Any tips on how to use it? including how to mix and how to apply? how long to let it set for? (aprox obviously it will depend on how fast my hair is taking the color just looking for a general estimation)
2. Do you dye or tone over blonder cream? I know my colorist was using toner, but I don't know if thats a general rule of blonder cream.
3. Product suggestions? Where do you buy blonder cream? is there a place to get it in store (I live in NYC) or if its best to purchase online can you recommend a website? I know i'll need something with blue-violet tones, I can probably choose a shade myself if someone can suggestion a good brand. Also looking for a good brand...i've read that goldwell? is good but I don't know much about it most of what i used when I was doing my own color was cheap and from sallys.
4. Dye / Toner color, can anyone recommend a good brand and color of dye or toner (again heard goldwell was good but i'm not commited to anything) i'm attempting for a blonde similiar or a bit less yellow to this...
and any other tips or advice would be great!
thanks so much inadvance!!!

If you google Blondor you will find Wella's professional web sight. Also if you can't get it at Sally's then on-line places will be listed. After bleaching your roots to the colour of the inside of a banan, very light yellow, then you should tone. Wella makes a great toner that is available at Sally's. I use Wella Color Charm T-10 Ivory Lady or T-18 White Lady.. You'll need 10% developer and leave it on for only 5-10 minutes.
