QuoteReplyTopic: How do I reverse the effects of hydrogen peroxide? Posted: October 04 2009 at 3:26pm
I bought distilled water but was given diluted hydrogen peroxide by mistake which I used as a final rinse and did not wash out for over a week. As a result, my hair is becoming significantly worse by the day and is drying, matted and becoming frail and weak with thick knots which are riding up and forming tight clumps. How can I reverse the effects of hydrogen peroxide? I have used oils, conditioners, steam, shampoo's even my own natural avocado and coconut masques but nothing is working. How can I reverse the effects of this stripping chemical? I will buy/do anything which will work as I am desperate....please, please help. Please do not suggest cutting my hair as I do NOT want to do this.

How did this happen? That's a very very dangerous situation.
I've never heard of this before, but what I would do is use a clarifying shampoo (Un Do Goo is the best), do a protein treatment (like Redken's All Soft) and also oil my hair and leave it in overnight.
The peroxide would have stopped working after one or two hours, so it isn't still stripping your hair.
Just be very gentle on it now... I wouldn't use steam on it in it's fradgile state and would be very gentle when shampooing.
I'm glad at least it was diluted... but how on earth did the mix up happen?
