QuoteReplyTopic: exact reason for your hair being as it is Posted: December 08 2003 at 4:19am
I think it would be interesting to describe our hair and discuss why exactly we wear our hair as we do - including minor details.
Here is my hair description: my hair is a self-cut, past-chin-length bob, with no chemical processing whatsoever (dyeing, highlights etc) or even the slightest hint of hairspray. I wear it like this because I perfer to cut it myself (a bob is easier to do so) and because I think shorter hair doesn't do justice to my face. I also have no desire to change its color (dark blond) and preferr being natural. Nor do I want gunk or chemicals in my hair. I'd probably think the same way if I were a girl.

My hair is natarally brown, straight and tailbone length. It's fun to play with, fun to annoy my friends with because I won't cut it when they want me to and it is long partly for religious reasons, but as it was long when I found that part of the Bible it is more why I maintain it and keep it long.
- uncut since August 2002 when it was cut into long layers – it will never be cut again - down to my bra-strap at the back and falling onto the tops of my breast at the front - predominantly black/dark brown with a light sprinkling of frost - straight till my ears, then long loose waves through the length and a fine curling tendrils near the temples and at the back of the neck - very thick and now quite soft (thanks to good conditioners) - not chemically processed in any way (coloured or permed or straightened) because I love what Nature has done with it - not blown dry or heat styled at all - something I love to wear loose because it frames my face and it makes me feel taller (which is good when you’re 5ft 3”) but since an unfortunate incident on public transport, I am wearing it tied up and away from inquisitive fingers. - up in a bun of some sort during the working day – for safety and convenience. - worn in a semi up-down style during evenings out, which allows me to transition from a formal to an informal environment and back again, with ease and in comfort.
My hair is between chin and shoulder length (close to chin and front, closer to shoulders at back) it was cut into layers numerous times a long time ago, it's quite thick and wavy (well very wavy anyway) stick out from my head a lot and is dyed a darkish red with jet black roots.
I love the red, but I need to retouch it. It's a little darker because of a messed up purple dye job (that was cool for a while when it faded a little) can't wait till it's a little lighter so I get can everything done up again.
Also I rarely get a chance to wash it more than 2 times a week.
I love my hair and want it to grow very long. There are no real reasons. I love dyed hair, I love long hair. It's wavy because it is and I gave up trying to straighten it and have started to love it now that it's longer.
I love nature but I think that to fully appreciate something nature is given you, you need to play around with it ^_^

My hair is naturally dark brown and I color it "medium golden brown" to give it some highlights and to lighten it up a bit. I never use heat on my hair and I don't often wear it up because it's so pretty and feminine when it's down (I have that tossled look going on). I'm letting my hair grow; right now it's about 3 inches below my shoulders with layering up front that starts around my mouth. My hair is very thick, shiny, and healthy. The layers give it movement and I love them.
Let's see. . . my hair is very fine/thin, so if it grows too long it looks very flat and limp. However, it also grows in weird directions in some places, so the shorter it is, the more problems I have getting it to behave some days. I'm trying to find the optimum balance to make it behave its best. Currently it's a little longer than my picture because it's in an in-between stage while I try to figure what length will make it lay best and be easiest to style with the least product and effort. It's deep burgundy-red because I got bored a couple of days ago and used some dye that had been sitting around a few months. I dunno how long that'll last, though. *shrugs* Just have to see how I feel. I like to do my own hair because I have bad experiences with stylists, and only go to them if I want a style too complex to do myself. I'm very adventurous about trying new things with it, and not afraid to do a little damage control if something goes wrong. I also like to experiment with accessories no matter what style I'm wearing, because I don't like to feel limited in my styling choices. *hopes that's enough, as it's a small novel as it is*
More awesome than a manatee!

I like this board! I should have posted a long time ago! Well, right now I have virgin hair. It is all one length with the front being about one inch past my chin and the back being 2 inches past my chin, so as you can imagine it has an angled look. I usually wear it parted on the side with a clip to pull it back so it doesn't fall in my face. It's naturally straight, so it has a tendency to do that. Before, I had processed hair. I would color, perm...it just got too damaged. So, about a year ago, maybe a bit longer, I can't remember, I took the plunge and cut it really short just to get all of the damage out. It was a hard year growing it out, but it's worth it. I'm gald to have the healthy hair back.

Life is wonderful...when you have a cat. But even better when you have a cat and good hair!
