I've had a perm. But I was 12 or 13 I believe so I didn't put the right stuff in it to make it look decent.
I'm a big believer in keeping your hair the texture it is naturally. It'll be a lot less work on you and keep your hair healthy. I bet you just need to find the right cut that'll work for your hair and face/body shape. Ever tried highlights?
Of course you could still get the perm. I have a friend who's had one for a long time and nobody ever guessed she didn't have naturally curly hair.
I have had highlights - a long time ago. I just get so tired of my boring stringy straight hair sometimes. All I seem to do is wash it and put it in a pony tail - boring!

I love perms because they add lift to my lifeless hair. I've been getting them for a long time, and I get more compliments on my hair than anything else.
My experience has shown that Redken Vector perms are what is right for my hair. I think it's different for everyone, though. But Redken has always come through, and I won't get any other kind.
I permed my hair before school started (end of August) and it dried my hair really bad, and my hair wasn't at all bad before so I say don't go for it and if you want to curly/wavy llok they have foamy curlers you could put your hiar in over night and if you dont like doing it like that there is scrunching spary or you can use mouse and just scrunch your hair as it dries....
