Some of the best beauty recipes start in the kitchen with common food items.

Listed below are some favorites:

Avocado
Start by peeling and mash a ripe avocado in a clean glass container with a clean fork or similar masher.  Continue to mash until the avocado forms a smooth paste. Apply paste to damp or dry hair.

Begin applying avocado paste approximately 1/2 inch from the roots and focus the mixture on the dry and damaged sections.   You may want to focus a lot on the ends if they are dry, damaged or split.

When finished applying the avocado wrap hair in plastic shower cap.  Allow to remain on hair for up to 60 minutes.

To remove avocado step into a lukewarm shower and allow the water to rinse the mixture out of your hair.  To keep hair moist you may wish to do a Conditioning Only (CO) shampoo or a Diluted Shampoo (DS).

Avocados are great for the hair because they contain fatty acids and other important nutrients which are essential for soft, shiny and healthy hair.

Apple Cider Vinegar
For medium length hair start with ½ cup of Apple cider vinegar rich in alpha-hydroxy acids and ¼ of water. Use this combination as a final rinse after cleansing.  If your hair is longer you may wish to start with 1 cup of Apple cider vinegar.

Take a clean bowl into the shower and as you apply the rinse, catch the drippings in the clean bowl.  That way you can continue to rinse multiple times to make sure all of the hair is covered.

The benefit of using an apple cider vinegar rinse is that it removes any soap resides and leaves hair soft and full of shine.

Eggs & Olive Oil Beauty Mix
Combine 2 eggs (organic is always best) and mix it with 3 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) for a great natural hair conditioner.

Apply the egg/oil conditioning mixture approximately 1/2" from the root down to the ends of the hair.

This egg/oil pack is full of proteins for hair and the hair conditions in natural way.

Note:  Make sure to wash hands completely after handling raw eggs.

Coconut Oil
Take 3 tbsp of coconut oil and warm it on the stove. Make sure the coconut oil is not rancid (store opened coconut oil in the refrigerator when possible).

Apply warmed coconut oil from 1/2" from the root to the end of the strands. Wrap hair with a shower cap or plastic.  Allow to remain on the hair for 30 minutes.

Finally shampoo and rinse the hair. Coconut has all the natural antioxidants. Coconut oil helps smooth dry, dull hair. It also helps to restores damaged cuticles and encourage megawatt shine.
