My husband is a long-haired fan.  (probably because when we met my hair was 1/2 way down my back!)  Over the years, I have had anywhere from a chin-length bob to down past my shoulders.

I have another post re: wanting to make another change.  I am hopeful that the hubby will like it.  I know it's my hair -- but I want him to like whatever style I end up with.  I have been inching (literally!) my way up to shorter hair recently... trying to not freak him out with anything tooo drastic!

Any other people out there with a hubby who wants you to have long locks, when you would really just prefer to have a cropped look?

No, but as a husband I want my wife to have short hair but she prefers it longer.  Right now she wears it in a bob.  I'm wanting her to go with a inverted/graduated bob but she doesn't like it shorter in the back.  She probably would wear it around her collarbone if I didn't have a preference.  I really like a crop/long pixie cut on her best (she wore it that way for a few years).  So, I guess we kind of compromise.  Maybe a sexy short style would work for him - does he like any friends, celebrities that have short hair?

Unfortunately, he just seems to prefer longer hair.  :(  Maybe as he sees a few different 'dos he will grow to like one of them.  (hopefully!)

You could get a wig but, don't tell him it's a wig! He may really like it. To be honest I'd love it if my wife did that

I was always a long hair fan for ladies. I need to say once my wife took the plunge and chopped off her hair she loved it. I was not against her cutting it but as a stylist I had a friend cut her hair short the first time so if it was too short I would not get the blame. She had hair that was one length just past her shoulders. She wanted it cut and I did not. But it's her hair and I want to see her happy. As she said it's only hair. I asked a friend if she was interested in cropping my wife's hair and she said yes. the rest is history, she now loves the short clipper cuts which I do for her. Long story short. "Your hair / Your decision" does he or she  love you or your hair. Just my view and opinion, you asked.... but may not like the answer.
good luck with how ever you want your hair
Mike

My husband's *preference* is towards longer hair -- but he would ultimately say it was my decision, too.  So I guess I want to keep him happy with a compromise of sorts -- maybe just keeping in the bobs category vs. the pixie cut category!  LOL.
