please help me? Blonde with dark root trouble </3

   Ok, ive had lots of things done to my hair as far as dying goes. I went ginger due to a dying accident once, and the hair dresser put a brown through it and bleached a full head of highlights. Its faded and went into a medium to dark blonde.

SINCE THEN, Leetle Emma here put a medium ash blonde over her hair, and it went gorgeous, just the colour I wanted!
But the roots I had back then went really brassy, and it becomes more obvious the more my hair grows. 

Now I have more, dark blonde bordering brown roots, very unsightly. 

How would I top up this colour? Just continue to use medium ash blonde and try to get rid of the brassyness? and Paint my own highlights on using those kits you can get hold of?
How would a hairdresser solve this problem? I'll end up having an obvious stripe where the highlights end and my own dye job starts, wont I?
I just dont have the money for the hairdressers though, I'm on minimum wage :/
