Hello,
I am new to this board. I just finished reading Meg`s thread and found myself in almost the same predicament. I have red hair that is about a foot and a half long (mid/lower back) that I am running out of things to do with. I have hair sticks, scrunchies, barrettes, clips, etc... You name it, I have it.
Being a student, I need something that is quick/easy to do. Pony tails and braids are just hanging now and my hair has lost much of its old body... For that reason, I am seriously considering cutting my hair to my shoulders. I guess I am looking for opinions (though I expect them to be biased! which is ok :)) and styles that I could try if I keep it long. Thank you all very much.
God Bless.

Wow! You have beautiful hair-I am a short hair lover, but please dont touch yours! Try hot rollers with a good hair gel and mabey a crimping iron or a waving iron. Just make sure you put a heat protector on your hair first.

Thanks! many people tell me that they love my hair. Most of the people that I have asked have said the same thing you did about cutting it. I will say that a crimping iron looks cool! (a-finger-in-the-electrical-socket look :)) I will say though that I have never really done gel so I will give that a try. Thank you again.
God Bless.

Yes, it is gorgeous hair! I wouldn`t change a thing. For variety, you could French braid. You also could braid just the hair at your temples and then pull it back. You could pull back those sections without braiding it. By the way, I have a face shape similar to yours and wore my hair like yours until age 16, when I first got bangs. However, I`ve never gone to the trouble of growing them out again, and that was 25 years ago, so you should think hard before you get bangs. In your case, some longish, wispy (not heavy) bangs could look great! Oh, for natural crimping I used to braid my hair while wet, then unbraid it for great natural waves. Good luck!

hey, snap! finally i have found someone in the same dilemma as me! i have long ginger (red) hair, a bit longer than yours. i always tend to wear mine up though, and i too could do with some more good ideas or i will get mine cut. What i often do with my hair is gather it all up as if to do a pony, twist it up like a bun and then using a barette, clip the bun to the rest of the hair with some spikey bits left over. it`s very difficult to explain! maybe try just a simple bun, they can be very effective. how about having half of your hair tied up and letting the rest hang loose? i do that sometimes and people comment that it looks good. i would really like mine to be curly, and whenever i use rollers, the curls just drop out because of the wight and the thickness. i saw your pic of you with curly hair, i was wondering if you could tell me how you did that? it looks great. good luck, and if you do decide to have it cut, do what you want and not what other people want - after all, it`s your hair. thanks

Yea I have done buns and pulling it back. They do look nice. Now since OK is having horribly HUMID weather, the hair is spriny curly. I understand the curls dropping out, mine does that all the time now... :( The other pic on the Realm of Redheads (www.realmofredheads.com) was actually my prom last year when my school brought in hair dressers. The woman soaked my hair in hairspray (literally) and then used a curling iron and just curled it all up like that. She then used 3 little clippies and pulled it off of my face (I had made the mistake of trimming wet bangs the night before, so... :)). But yea, that was professional. As for hair styles, the ones that have been mentioned by the other people in this thread are good ones, many that I already use. Braids (all varieties are great!), inverted pony tails, buns, etc... Good luck with your hair.
God Bless.
