Hello All,

I'm new here and I need some help.  I have naturally dark blonde/light brown hair.  I have colored it a lighter blonde for years and years with a box color.  Currently my hair has a brassy tone.

I am sick of blonde and I want to go darker.  I've been doing some research and some professionals recommend a demi color for going darker.  Is this the best way to go?  I plan on going to Sally's and doing this myself.  I live in a small town and the salons here have ruined my hair before and I refuse to go back.

Does anyone have any recommendations for which brand?  How about an ash brown to help with the brassiness, or will that turn it green?  How about the color to developer ratio?

I need all the help I can get!  Thanks Smile

I love Clairol Soy for demis it works well but remember demis wash out very fast!! I wouldn't recommend doing ash if you hair is light blonde even though it's brassy, unless it's more orangey cause that blonde will turn gray or even green!! I would get Neutral. Sally's will show you the deleveloper to go with it. Also There's a demi at Sally's also by Clairol that's really nice and you don't even need a developer for it just use it out of the bottle and it's gentle on hair. I use either of those 2 when I was brown. Good luck. Most of the ladies at SAlly's are very helpful if you tell them what you want to do.
