How To Blow Dry All Types, Textures & Lengths

Listed below are the secret professional tricks and tips for a sleek, smooth blowout regardless of what your hair type, texture, length and condition is.

Cleanse Hair
Use a shampoo designed to maximize your hair type, texture, length and desired results.

Rinse Out Condition
Rinse out shampoo and then apply a rinse-out conditioner.  If volume is desired only apply a light conditioner from the ears down to the ends.

Detangle In The Shower
Use a wide tooth comb which is hair friendly or use fingers.
Detangle hair with conditioner still on hair.

Use A Cool/Cold Final Rinse
After hair is detangle rinse well.  Finish with a cool/cold water rinse to close cuticles.

Towel Blot
Blot hair with a soft towel.  Do not rub hair.  Blot carefully.

Detangle
Start with a leave-in detangling spritz to nourish damp hair and scalp.  If hair frizzes add a defristant cream or spray.  Add a glob of mousse if desired.

Volumizer
Use a volumizing spray at your roots to add height and control to the hair.

Styling cooktail
You want your hair, and especially the ends, to look polished use a little bit of grooming cream throughout the ends.

Pre-Dry Hair
Cut down on drying time by blow-drying tresses with hands until it's approximately 90% dry.

Section Hair
Separate hair into four equal sections.  Create a top, middle 2 sections at the neck. Leave the bottom two section loose and begin blow-drying in this area.

Use the Right Brush
Use a 100% boar's bristle paddle brush for a sleek look.  Alternate with a round brush for more volume and bend.

Direct Blow Dryer Nozzle Down
Always point blow dryer nozzle attachment directed down the hair shaft. This helps to flatten the cuticle for the shiniest and sleekest results.

Work The Roots
Get the roots completely dry first.  Then move down to the ends.

Brush All The Way Through
Brush and dry all the way through the hair to the ends so that they end up polished and smooth.  Do not neglect the ends.

Add Lift
To achieve volume focus on the middle section of the hair.  Place the brush right under the section of hair.  Bring the brush up. Direct the dryer flow against the hair as you lift to lock in volume.  Smooth through the rest of the strand.

Frame Your Face
Blow-dry the final section by brushing hair forward. This directs the hair so that it falls naturally creating a nice frame for your face.

Finish
Follow all of these tips for a salon perfect blowout. For extra shimmer apply a light spritz of holding hairspray or 1-2 drops of shine drops, spray or cream into the palms of hand.  Lightly brush over the top of the hair.
