QuoteReplyTopic: Best extensions for curly hair? Posted: March 08 2011 at 3:08pm
I have very curly, fine caucasion hair. I mean, VERY curly. I have GL cold fusion right now, but the curl is too loose & while the casual observer can't tell, I can clearly see where my curls end & the extensions begin.
I'm wondering if GL comes curlier, or if there's a better remi curl fusion I should try? I sure wouldn't mind spending a little less either.
I have fine hair that is curly also and I still have yet to find anything that is a really great match.
I have done the installs myself with micro links... before I figured out I could do this, I talked to a few salons and none seemed to be able to offer hair that was a match for mine in terms of texture so I wasn't about to pay $1800 or more for that.
I've used 909 deep wave hair... my first install was pretty decent but at the end of three months it was tangling up, dry and just looked ratty. I bought new hair (same kind) and for some reason in that batch of hair the curl just looked really unnatural and I didn't wear it for too long.
I just purchased russian hair... as wavy as it comes. I haven't installed it yet - but it feels very much like my hair and after I washed a few strands to see how they'd hold up, they curled up a little more. The curl is looser than mine... but hopefully it will be close enough!
I know this doesn't really give you an answer... but I've done a ton of searching for the same kind of hair that you are looking for and I am not sure it exists!!!! The best that someone recommended to me was to check websites where people are selling their hair to see if anyone matches your texture... can't remember the site name. That was just way too expensive for me.
Hi LauraMax, There are so many people who stop by this board from time to time that could probably answer your question with more authority. However, I did talk to Barbara Lhotan who does extensions for GL and SoCapUSA and has been doing xtensions for over 10 years. She told me that your type of naturally curly hair is harder to match but there are options. She said you can buy really high quality human hair (it doesn't matter if it is from European or Oriental stock - just good hair) and then your hairstylist can put a perm in it to try and match your natural curls. Barbara said most of her clients who have naturally curly hair will buy extensions and wear them to get rid of their curls and not to wear curls. However, she did say it's possible to buy hair and chemically curl it.
Have you considered that option? Hair that is precurled may not match your pattern but that is an option since you can get precurled hair.
Are you still wearing extensions?
That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger or drives you totally insane. :-)
