I've been dying my hair bright red for a few months now, and I'd like to go back to blond. I have 2 packets of bleach and 40 volume developer. I also bought blond hair dye to kind of use as a toner afterwords.

and part of me is wondering if i should stay red...ahh so hard to decide!! but i have hair ADD, so I always want to change it. any advice??

Hi!

From everything that I've been reading on here, it's not good to go straight for the bleach.
First you need to lift the red colour from your hair and then use a toner.
From there you can use a permanent dye to get it to the shade of blonde you want.
People have recommended Colorix and toners from Sally's Beauty Supply.

I was dirty blonde, then went to black, then brown, then decided to bleach the crap out of my hair, and now it's orange. So I am about to try and strip the red out with Colorfix.

Definitely use a color remover first. After that you should be able to bleach and tone.

I think that you should highlight the hair instead, when highlightning you can bleach the hair more aggresively to the right shade of blonde in one process. Then if you want to be even blonder highlight the hair again on the sections that you didn't hightlight at first.,

Bleaching colored hair can result in ugly brassy weird shades, and if you use a lightener that can be used for on-scalp application you'll have have to bleach atleast a couple of time since it's not safe to use really high volume developer and aggresive bleach on the scalp.

I like what you have now! You aren't that dark and it shouldn't be too hard to lift with bleach and a toner. Although it is not good for your hair to bleach the bajeezus out of it, you can do it if you are impatient. You just have to be aware that you will cause damage and have to nurse your hair back to health.
