My hair has been coming out in bunches lately. For some reason it got really bad over this summer though. I don't know what it can be. I haven't been blow drying it or anything as much as I used to during the school year. I thought maybe my hair was dry and damaged so I made a hot oil treatment out of vegetable oil and honey and after I washed it out and combed my hair tons of hair came out worse than ever! I mean it wouldn't be bad if a little bit of hair came out cuz that's normal but this is a lot. I have no idea what to do! I haven't had my hair trimmed in a year but I'm going to get it trimmed this weekend. I don't know how much that will help though. I've been reading about hair loss in teens on the internet and how it could mean that your sick and stuff. I'm really worried. please give me any advice or help.

I hope by now you have fixed this problem, but if you haven't maybe this will help. I have known this to happen to other young women. I have known some who even lost some eyebrow hair. Anytime you get hair loss suddenly that was not caused by product use you really need to see a doctor to rule out any problems that could be serious. For many teens and older women this is caused by stress. Being under pressure to get into college, new jobs, the loss of a boyfriend or death of someone close to you have all been know to cause hair loss to the point of bald spots in some people.
I personally started losing an absurd ammount of hair daily beginning in puberty. I had it checked out, and since it is not sudden and I have no bald spots, my drs say it is common in women with thick hair.

hey, well first off, i'm a guy, but like, is your hair curly at all? cause i've basically had the same problem since 6 months after my last haircut, (heh, nature's way of telling me to get one, i guess) it just keeps breaking like there's no tomorrow, but i started using a curl activator since then, and my hair is like 10x stronger (or at least feels like it), i haven't learned the science of it, but yeah, apparently it helped with my hair. take it easy.
