How do you know if you will look good with bangs? I have wide and high forehead and I''m toying with the idea of having bangs but not sure if I want to take the plunge yet. To see the kind of bangs I''d like, see below:
Or something like Bettie Page''s bangs. Thanks for any feedback!
With a wide and high forehead, I think you'd look better with longer bangs than that pic you posted.. maybe try bangs that are long enough to sidepart and sweep across the forehead, tucking behind the ear. Or you could get those bangs Jennifer Garner had in Alias in the third season. They're like your sample pic, except they go down to the eyebrows instead of stopping mid-forehead.
The girl in the pic you posted seems to have a wide forehead, so I think it would look okay, but it is good advice to try longer first like said above.
Another consideration is if you have cowlicks. I tried short bangs like that, and I loved them, but I have cowlicks so they never would lay flat like that without a lot of work, and they looked kind of stupid sticking up from my head. Probably the only way to know if you have cowlicks or not is if you ever had bangs before, do you remember them sticking up in the air or parting, instead of laying flat?
Good luck,

the idea of bangs=super hot on the right girl. what you wanna do with your hair is up to you, but i think the girl in the pic you posted had bangs that were too short, the good kind are flippy ones, and ones you kinda put to the side...well, that's just my opinion, but seriously, bouncy/flippy bangs'll get any guy's attention...and probably more.

I think that the best type of bangs for you would be longer, sideswept bangs. Look at people like Christina Ricci, for the longest time she wore her hair with some shorter pieces on the side, and it helped to detract from the size of her forehead. Also, for good examples look at people like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, and Lauren Ambrose from "Six Feet Under." If I think of any others I'll post them soon.
Thanks. I guess I'm sort of looking for gothic/punky bangs. Yes, my hair can lay flat and not stand out like cowlick. I had bangs before for a long while when I was teen but they were boring because I have super straight thick hair so they don't look curvy or wispy even when they're longer. That's why I was looking at that girl's bangs, not too short like hers but in the middle but above my eyebrows definitely. I sort of like her look, very edgy and different. I also like Catherine Zeta Jones bangs but I think she has naturally wavy hair?

Hmm, in that case, I don't know. I mean, if you have straight fine hair it might be hard to wear longer bangs, but I still think the style in the pic u showed (even if a little longer, but I'm guessing not by much) would overexaggerate a roundish face. I mean, if you're dead set on them, there's no better way to see how they look than to take the plunge, as long as you're willing to end up not liking them. It's totally up to you (of course), but even though you may like the goth look on other people, remember that not every aspect of it will look good on you. The only reason I even brought it up is because my face is sort of heart shaped (full by the cheeks) and I got the wrong bangs and looked like a chipmunk. Ugh, it was awful. Talk to a hairstylist (preferably one who cuts a variety of hair-not one who specializes in just one look because a traditional stylist may not like those bangs just based on personal opinion and not what will look good on you, and someone who basically cuts hair sort of funky might lean to a funkier overall look.) Good luck though. :)
