My Hairdresser wanted me to try a new product, BioLustre. She said it would crrect damed hair from the inside. Well, I've had 2 treatments over the past 2 months, and honestly I don't see any positive change. If anything, my hair feels very dry. I was hoping someone on this board might be familiar with this product, as I can't get a straight answer from my hairdresser. Unfortunately she NEVER adn=mits to making a mistake, and although she is a good hairdresser, I really don't trust her. I know my hair doesn't feel right. I'm hoping this product will wear off eventually and does not have any long term damaging effects. If anyone has any info, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

It sounds like a product full of protein, reconstructioners are usually full of protein. Proteins can make the hair hard and should not be put on too frequently.

I have had very little personal experience with this product but have discussed your question with colleagues that have used it extensively. They all emphasized the procedure must be closely followed. The hair must be clarifyed twice before and then twice after the Biolustre application and then a moisture rich conditioner needs to be used to achieve the best results. I know several people that have used it and they are all impressed with the results.

Here are the directions from the manufacturer:

If you had something different, that may be the problem.

Sorry to hear about your experience and I hope you are able to find a solution.

Good luck!! ;-)

MJO, I wouldn't trust somebody who said their product could "correct damaged hair from the inside". ... that's because nothing can penetrate the hair shaft and "repair" hair from the inside. Makes sense if the lady's got skills, but if you don't have a good, open, trusting, honest relationship with your hairdresser I suggest you either (a) not take her suggestions to heart or (b) find another hairdresser. If you don't feel right, trust your gut and move on.

And yes, Cmsweet has a great point: sometimes protein treatments can react with natural oils to make hair feel dry or brittle. The occasional clarifying can help.

Hugs,
Anais
