I'm new to this forum and I really need some good advice. I have shoulder length hair naturally medium brown. For as long as I can remember I have highlighted my hair. I always used an Aveda salon and my hair was in incredible condition. It was never dry or brittle. My hairdresser always told me how lucky I was! When I moved, I had to try and save money so I bought the John Frieda Sheer Blonde Spray. You spray it on your hair and the hair dryer turns it blonde. It was perfect and my hair was blonde and it was saving me tons of money. It was still in great condition. I stopped using it for a month or so and decided I wanted to go brown (I always switch between brown and blonde every 8 months or so). One hair dresser told me they would use a semi permanent colour so it wouldn't damage the hair. Another told me it wasn't necessary. She was cheaper so I went with her Anyway, as soon as she coloured it my hair felt odd. The next time I washed it, it felt 'gummy' at the top. It isn't all over, just around the top of my hair. It is breaking off constantly. Every time I wash my hair, I lose a ton when I'm styling it. This was back in December and even to this day, it is not any better. I have tried using L'Oreal Absolute Repair which was recommended by another hair dresser. This did nothing. I finished it and now I am using Joico K Pak Reconstructor as I was told that is great for damaged hair. I was also told to try It's a 10 Miracle Leave In. I've used them for about 1 week but it's still no better. The top of my hair is dull and damaged and I'm so depressed about it. I can't style it as once it is wet, I can barely comb through it. It's ok when it's very wet but as soon as it's towel dried, then it frizzes up. I don't know what else to try I am also using V05 Hot Protein every few days. It worked for a while, but now it's not working and my hair is still dull. I know I have to wait for it to grow out but I'm too impatient. Is there anything else I can do to at least make it look better and shinier?
