I am late 30's with dark hair just below my shoulders. I have coloured my grays forever, and never had this happen before. My roots coloured to the shade indicated by the box, but my ends darkened. And I have lost all curl, but I haven't changed anything as in diet, exercise, or medications. I DON'T WANT TO CUT IT~!
I have been using tons of conditioners and treatments, even mayo on my hair, raw eggs, but when I tried it again two months later {right now} it's worse than ever.
What can I do, any ideas please?

Don't move a muscle... don't do anything yet!

To me.. it seems that the pigments went down to the ends and made your hair darker. You have dark pigment ends. It's not you... it''s a problem with the die of the company. It happens.

Actually it can ne a learning experience.

So.. the most important thing is how will the darker dye impact your life? Right? That is the main question on your life.

Nothing is perfect.. You know that for a fact. It happened to your hair. So, something you wear is permamnt and you can't stop it.

You have used mayo (eggs) and Eggs and oils to help the condition of your hair. You tried to get rid of it. Actually you atually helped the rest of your hair. You did a great job. Your hair will be great.. except for what you THINK is wrong!

Don't cut it. This is a problem your mind and the consequences of there after.

Guess what.. I'm good at that!

Think?

Now... you have done this before and you have had no problemS.. .right? So if you were using eggs and mayo for protien and oils for your hair, The die seems to haVe went to far down the ends like ... what would would call it?

A rinse at the ends and stuck there? You did nothing wrong..just a bad batch of dye.

Remember.. if you used it before and had no problems.. it must be just a bad batch and you victum of it.

Bad hair dye for that particular time! Victum.

Don't kill it? Use it by using basic understanding you are using the hair dye for?

Question.. How long is your hair?... some dyes are only a week or along time! How long is the dye you used.

If hair grows fast... trimming will take care of it.

If you are like the rest of the population, you grew that to a point of area.

Short hair willbe harder to cominsate for the dye difference.

But.. here is where good old logiv comes.

You must have long hair for the ends are a different color and can not be congruent to the rest.

(I sound Sherlock Holmes!)

No matter.

If you try to change the ends.. you might be more in trouble! There is no controll for a problem. A problem on top of a problem means horror.

Stop!

It's time to think about what you have and what to do with what you have.

It looks like S@#$ to you... but... this is the time to look at a larger perspective.

Why are you doing this. Why do you color grey or white to look younger?

1. You want to look younger for a job
2. You have loved on that is significant to your hair.
3, Your doping it for your friends.

We must take one.. it's so important.

A. How people have seen your hair in such a way that they would notice.
1. In a job, put your up for the inches you need to hide ( a french braid, tight so the ends are underneath.) Oven your boss will never know.
2. Your friends? What are they like. IF your showed this problem would they hug you for the pain your in or would they laugh.
a. Study this very carefully!
3. Your loved one. Tell them that your dye backfired and your're scared. Ask them is it OK. At least you have yes or no answer.

A loved one will love your no matter and actually try to help.
a. Is your loved sensative to you.
b. Does he even care.
c. will he really notice to destroy a realationship.

That is what is in your mind and you need to find practicle answers to the problem.

1. He won't care..He loves you.

The problem is not gone.

You styill have ideas in your head of destruction of yourself and anything.

Your friends. If they make fun of it.. wait until they have bad day...?

It's Pschologically academic. Hide the problem at work. No problem. Tell your loved one... for he'll not have a problem if he loves you.. he will be simpothetic.. doing what I'm doing.. If not.. he will not care. pitiiful. Still solves the problem.

It's your friends. What kind oppinion do they have for the way you are? Yoo weatr your hair as you wear clothing.

Is their oppinion so great that you must have an anxiety attack? Let them have it! They will find themselves in a bad "wear" day and they will hope for your forgiveness.

Forgivness of what. Me? Gotch ya!

Just hair is darker at the ends of a particular length. HAir grows and inches come off.

You are afraid.. the question is what are you afraid of.

Don't get me wrong. Fear is something that can not n=be pushed aside.

Stanima is your ally and so is the friends that help you out. THewy might need you someday.

And, this is from a guy who loves hair and likes women. But... I feel for you.

Any questions

Phil : ( but to :)

Whoa! Digression, Phil.

Each time you dye you deposit color, so every time you color the ends they get darker.

What you were supposed to do is touch up only the roots of your hair, not the whole head.

I suggest you visit the Hair Bloopers board and the Hair Color board, where they discuss this problem often.

There's also a recent thread there on how to touch up roots.

Good luck.

Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?

I agree with ekatherine, don't pull the color through anymore. Do roots only and the color on the ends will fade with washings.

Thanks for all your help, I was sure I would have to cut it, but now I guess a great conditioning and then just do the roots to match the ends, until I get it all one basic colour. I am trying the roots tonight.

Thanks again...
