I was thinking about this family I saw at the beach, the womans hair was mid-thigh length, her young daughter (looked about 7) had hair down to her butt, and her teenage daughter, who reminded me of myself with medium thich dark straight hair (the other two had wavy blonde hair) had hair down just a little past her knees.
And I think it would be really cool to have hair that long. Since I was planning to grow it to my waist and its like at the bottom of my sholderblades and close to bra-strap length ive got plenty of time to think about it. But still it sounds nice.
Who here has hair that long? How difficult is it to take care of. My only concern is I dye my hair black because I just love black hair and as of now one bottle of dye didn't cover all my hair. By then id need four....

I saw a bumper sticker today that said "I'm an artist - I create all sorts of $h!t" and I'm probably showing my creative side here with this unsolicited opinion BUT..... the black hair dye will catch up to you, trust me. As one of those who had jetblack, elvis black, shoepolish black from the bottle for years - I can speak about this. It's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad for your hair - and the worst part - after not coloring my hair black for over 3 years now - it's still not out of my length. ( see pix in signature) I can't imagine trying to keep my hair black and in good condition now. Dearie me, I think back to when I was coloring regularly and despite heavy conditioner my hair just snapped off - I left hair everywhere I went. It didn't matter if I had it done in the salon for big bucks, or used 2 or 3 boxes of Ms.Colorwhatever - I couldn't keep my hair shiny - it went "flat" so fast. I'm out of the color cycle now completely. It's been 8 months since I last colored my grey temples, and I'm almost accepting. I know it's tough and I know the allure of jet black hair; but it will catch up to you. I know I should probably mind my own beeswax, but dyed black knee length hair? Whew! too much work for me.
I had ankle length hair. I am Native American so it is part of my Lakota Sioux Indian tradition to wear our dark- straight - hair long. Men and women sometimes do that. I decided to cut it short. Wore my hair even shorter, very short then grew it again. My hair is now mid-back with spiral permed curls. I am going to cut it again but not for awhile.
I am 31 yrs. old, I am married and I have small children so I don't want my hair real long.

hey. yeah. my hair is actually very healthy. Surprisingly, ive dyed it many colors before in the past 2 or 3 years (red, blonde, brown, now black) but it's still very soft. Maybe its because I pay to much attention to it. but yeah I'm waiting for the day I wake up with all of my hair having fallen out of broken off.

Same here: I've dyed, permed, highlighted... my hair is still healthy(could be better, though). I stopped messing with my hair Jan 25th, that was the last time I had my hair dyed(it was semi. perm). The color has faded, but I don't plan on dying anymore. It's a pain and can rack up big bucks in the long run. You just don't know when your hair will have the last straw and start breaking off....
:It's better to be safe than sorry:
Idea: Maybe a semi. perm color? And only touch up the roots?
Hey you! Grow your hair as long as you want, after all it´s not growing in one night and you´ll have the time to see what you feel YOURSELF.
And as far as the colouring goes, I´ve dyed my hair black for over 13 years now and I´ve never had my hair in bad condition. I´ve trimmed, sure but nevertheless I´ve had waist-lenght, shiny hair and WHY OH WHY DID I GO AND CUT IT!!! Regardless, if you want to keep colouring- go ahead. If you want to stop colouring- go ahead too. Do what ever you feel you have to do. It´s clear that your hair will enjoy not to be coloured, but what will you enjoy? Keep us posted!

haha man I love your username. Very original. Mine really makes no sense because my name is Dana. Well actually it does make sense but its a long and ridiculous story.
yeah ive wanted to dye my hair black for about 5 years. And it took me 5 years to convince my mother to let me do it. Well no actually I had to wait until I was old enough to do it myself. But its the same thing. I hate the old color so I'm just gonna keep dying it... Assuming it doesn't start falling out.
but really i love your username. its just funny because everyone here never curses and always has nice usernames and everything and yours is unique.
i talk a lot by the way so. everyone can be prepared to read my page long posts analyzing every hair strand on my head.

My hair was just about that lenght and i just cut it...it will grow back in no time at all.
Here are you pros and cons:
Pros:
Your hair will stay back if you lean forward to get a drink or to brush your teeth.
If you have the kind of hair that is healthy it looks pretty and you get tons of compliments.
It keeps your arms warm and you can run around naked and yet still covered (dont ask).
it makes a nice pillow for your head if you dont have one
It feels nice brushing on your legs and back (if your not cothed too much).
you can make a long braid rope and playfuly swing it around or whip it at people.
Cons:
If you swim with it loose it will get stuck and plasterd to your back and you wount be able to move your neck well...keep it braided or up to swim!
It gets EVERYWHERE, in every crevase of your body...if you know what i mean...becawsue its long and you have to pull it up to go to the bathroom.
My least favorite thing is that it is absolutely hard to wear down period during daily liveing. If its not clean enough it feels greasy and heavy. It gets all tangled and stuck in doors and windows and you sit on it and other people sit on it and if you try to flip it behind you you might hit people...so it usualy gets worn up unless your at a place where your not doing too much activity. Waist lenght is by far the easier to handle and much more fun. you still get all the pros and you dont deal with the cons (in my opinion and experience). i like haveing my hair down. no braid, no ponytail, no bun. And if it gets to the point where its not allowing you to keep it down so much its just not fun. My great aunt had has hair down past the floor but she piles it on her head. She could take some great pictures of it (although shes not model material) but she cant just wear it down. So again, whats the point?
you cant toss your hair easiely...it just doenst work well.
People sometimes ask if you belong to a religions fantics group of some sort or another...yes, Ive been asked that several times.
If you want to audition or interview you need to wear it up or else they might steriotype you.
Again its not so bad with waist lenght hair. People dont look at you funny they just admire. But longer and they start wondering why you dont cut it.
it is uncomfortable too. You may get bald spots if it pulls too much.
Hmmmm, email me if you want to talk or see my hair pics before I cut it...its still long now but not long to me =) I think I like waist lenght best but Ill probably let it grow back to where it was and then cut it again.
