My hair wont change color?

Many times I've tried to color my hair and it just never works. Even something as simple as a different shade of brown. This time I asked someone at Sally Beauty Supply what I should do. She said I have to bleach it to get the super light brown hair I wanted, I have medium reddish-brown hair and really hate the red tint. I asked her if there was another option and she said I could try dark ash blonde with a 30 developer to try and make it light brown. I did 2 strand tests and it didn't change a SINGLE shade. what am I supposed to do? can I change my hair color without bleach :(

I would recommend going to a professional to get the color that you want. And if you are worried about the chemicals involved, try to find an organic salon in your area that uses Organic Color Systems products.
