Funny thing started happening to me after head shave

I'm a guy, 28, whose hair had started thinning quite a bit on top, but still thick on the sides. The lady who cuts what I have shaved my head for me last week (got tired of looking at half a head of hair), and now it seems I have women who are total strangers starting conversations with me! Even my hair "stylist" seemed to have a gleem in her eye when she finished. In stores, at the gym, while out riding my bike, seems that I've had more girls hit on me this past week alone than in the past 5 years! Question: why?
